How is everyone doing? Did anyone take advantage of the situation in the US particularly to get ahead the grind? A lot of people got relief payments, PPP loans and other small business credits (I’m specifically talking to the average person and small business owners)
Personally I left my career in the car business in February of 2019 (at the time nobody was buying cars) and I could afford to take off time. My dealership kept several million dollars to themselves (large dealer group of 6 stores) so the PPP loan money was substantial. They came up with a bullshit daily plan to “give out the money” – we had to make a certain number of calls, emails and texts and work a set amount of hours to get essentially $2 above minimum wage.. I said fuck that and just left.
I’ve been working towards opening my own computer and electronics repair business for some years now and this was a perfect opportunity to make that happen. As of right now I have two stores and both do well. I am working on store three and have a few other income streams apart of the computer and electronics business.
How is your life going? Did you take a better paying career during this period of workers rising up for better pay? Get a raise that otherwise wouldn’t happen thanks to the pressure placed on companies to do better?
I’d love to hear your story!
