I've done it guys. I've finally achieved my dream of moving to Alaska. I was offered a temporary job with pretty decent pay for the position, AND free housing! I'm using the this as a jumping off point to moving to Anchorage. I've wanted to move to Alaska for the longest time and now I'm making that dream a reality! I'm currently drafting a resignation letter for my director. I'm working minimum wage as a hospital housekeeper, so it's not anything fancy just “Hey, this is when I'll be gone, I'm moving like 5,000 miles away isn't that rad, thanks for the job.” I'm only giving a 2 weeks notice for 1 reason: No one else wants to work 3rd shift. Which is fine! I have insomnia so I love it, but I realize for people with families and lives, it's a shitty lot. So I want to give my…
Return to the Office
Maybe this is /r/maliciouscompliance, but figured everyone would appreciate it here. My office is opening for 3 days/week starting in March. Each VP & Director was told to work with their team to make sure that everyone was coming in on the same days for better “collaboration and team building.” Due to everyone having been working from home, there's been the inevitable “calendar creep” for everyone. Meetings starting right at 8 AM, being back-to-back through the day, etc. It's been tolerated while WFH because most people (myself included) would roll from bed to computer at 7:55 for the first call. Well, the VP of my team thinks the idea of suddenly waking up earlier to shower, get dressed, commute, etc. to be in the office for 8 AM is stupid. So when he picked the 3 days a week, he put in place a “stand-up meeting” that starts at 8:15…
I'm only in my second semester and I'm struggling way to much to come up with the money for tuition. I work at a Chic-fil-a on my campus but they only pay me about 8.30/hr and it's one of the highest paying jobs on campus. I don't have a car so I can't really work off campus or it would at least have to be a pretty close walk for me to make it. I have grants to help me out but even with them I still can't make the money up to pay for the rest of my tuition that grants don't cover, and no matter how many scholarships I apply for, I never hear back from them. At this point I really don't know how I'm going to finish out this semester
Why are we not labeling these companies?
Just going through all the stupid reasons why companies are firing the good employees for nonsense shit is also making my blood boil but with so much anger why aren't we making it known what companies are doing these shitty and probably illegal things? Let it be known what company you used to work for.
