Month: February 2022
I have been a CDL Class A driver for 7yrs now. 4yrs OTR and now 3 yrs Local. I have a situation that I am not sure if it's actually legal per DOT/Labor laws and can't figure out how to combat or if there is even anything to combat. I am a hourly paid local driver I run a run from 1:30am-11:25am (9hrs 55mins) A “Off duty” sit at terminal wait for 2hrs 55mins in the middle of the run with no pay We run E-Logs I start at our local yard pick up a load and travel to point B (2hrs away) where a delivery & pick up is as well as our main eastern terminal. After delivering they want me to go to that main terminal and sit for 3hrs. Originally with no pay, but after arguing they now will pay 1/2 of that time but I must…
“Reasons People Quit There Jobs”
BuzzFeed: “I Suddenly Knew It Wasn't Worth It”: People Are Sharing The Moment They Realized They Had To Quit Their Job (And Quit Their Manager). https://www.buzzfeed.com/ravenishak/quitting-jobs
I posted this last night thinking that people would stand up and say: damn right the people making our $2500 guitars deserve more. I was wrong. https://www.reddit.com/r/fender/comments/t2fddr/want_to_feel_supremely_pissed_you_paid_too_much/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
I was hired for this position in August of last year, working Saturday and Sunday mornings as a supervisor (read: low to mid level manager). About a month ago I was sick (thought it may have been COVID, but tested negative) and missed about three or four shifts. During my illness, I was guilted for calling in, even though I gave plenty of notice since I know that it’s hard to fill my weekend shift. I offered to bring in a doctor’s note; I was told it wasn’t needed, but I did anyway to cover my butt. Her attitude didn’t thrill me, but I figured maybe she just was frantic and worded her messages poorly. Fast forward to yesterday. Since I’m only in twice a week, I usually spend my Saturday mornings catching up on work emails from the week. Most are irrelevant to me, but an email from this…
The Company Owner that Wouldn’t Pay
(Mandatory was about 15 years ago). I was in my early 20's, after hearing all of my older friends gripe about about their student loans (yes they were just as absurd cost wise as they are today). I decided to try community college (strictly only paying for courses and books), ended up being extremely cheaper, therefore allowing me to work as well. I feel like I actually absorb new information better during evening hours, so I take night classes, then find a job during the day office cleaning and power washing various commercial and residential properties. Scumbag owner of the company decides to not pay me for the entire first month I worked for him. End of the first month, I show up to his house ready to fight, he had some sorry ass excuse, “I thought payroll had been done by my accountant” (if he even had one). It…
The cost of living will keep going up in the U.S. no matter what. Our politicians do not want to put a price cap on what businesses can ask for, so in order to keep shareholders happy, businesses will increase prices every single year (most businesses actually increase prices every holiday season and there are multiple holiday seasons in a year). Your income will go up at a much slower rate than the cost of living. This means your income will not keep up with the cost of living and eventually you wont be able to afford shelter anything else really AT ALL and you will be forced to be homeless or live with family and/or “friends” because of this. This is not a matter of IF this is a matter of WHEN. It will happen to the majority of working class people if nothing changes. We need your help…
Tl;dr: Former employer has advertised new positions in his business (after everyone has left) but is posing as a sex toy shop with the same name (he owns a pub/restaurant). The salons rep will go down the drain due to bad reviews from former employees. I've tried reporting but nothing happens. Can anyone help me? This guy is the worst first of all I was fired about 4 months ago now, all because someone I was close with a manager who left the building for a better job and I guess he took it to heart because a week later I got the sack… If you have been in this sub for a while you might remember my last post where he was threatened to sue after I (stupidly) agreed to store some waste cardboard at my property whilst he sorted a recycling bin. After he fired me he never…
