I'm 20 f I work at McDonald's pays well but when I started they has this dude let call him Matt. Matt was really creepy and started askinf me my number 5 minutes into the job. My new co workers lied and told him I was 16 that still didn't stop him. On night shift I ask the people they said yeah there was 2 sisters who worked he hit on one 16 and one 17. He bugged the 16 year old until she quit then waited until the 17 year old turned 18 asked her out. Eventually they both quit. Few weeks in he kept making house wife jokes and cowboy church I'm atheist. He quit I was so relieved today they told me they rehired him and sayd I was being mean I called him a creep. The assistant manager was just like oh he thought you were…
For six years I've been an underpaid and unhappy assistant at a law firm. Lawyers can be great to clients, but often make miserable employers. From big ego reprimands over their poor communication, to disregarding our safety during COVID because they're too stubborn to learn how to function remotely, I've often found reason to drown in bottles after work. There's something special to be said about the power of salt, and a community of people dealing with the same shit feeling of having their labor taken advantage of. Following advice from this sub, I filled out a job app everytime I had a shit day at work. Hours and hours, years of interviews of all sort. It's hard. After shit days, it's hard to put work into increasingly demanding applications and interviews. But it is so worth it. After years of hating my job and feeling trapped, I finally got…
CNBC is just so out of touch.
Little background, worked as an investment rep for a major canadian bank for a few years, which is just code for sales and investing. Working conditions got unbearable during the pandemic and decided to quit and look for something else not related in any way to customer service. I applied for an Admin back office job at something completely unrelated to banking but related to employee retirement programs. Had an interview earlier this week over teams. We were going over my resume and whatever I had written wasn't right, “oh you went to this university, we prefer our employees to be from this other university”, “You have 5 years experience, we are looking for someone with 10 years” sort of situation. At one point the HR recruiter said “You have this certification and license but we would rather you have a CFA” and I replied “I dont see how having…
Yes, I fucking lied. They asked for tools I can learn how to use in a second. They asked what I did in the past jobs and I said exactly what I would be doing in the new one. They asked my last salary I said 3k more than what I do. The result? I got a call and they want me with 5k more than what I earn today. A lot of benefits. Fuck the system. I know I'll be goddammit good at my new job. Fuck, I already am and am underpaid. Fuck this system, you gotta do what you gotta do to survive in this jungle. And I recommend you: lie the shit out of you. If they ask something and you feel like you can learn (ou already know how to) to do, just say you can. I guess I'm happy. Cheers.
I've never posted here, but had a company meeting yesterday that's giving me red flags and also just…baffled especially while we are still in a pandemic. We had a meeting where questions are asked to the top heads of the company. The biggest questions were around compensation and the revolving door feel of the company. The CEO eventually basically said that those who are more focused on compensation than the mission of the company, the company might not be for them. We're in a hyper inflated market, people are still reeling from possibly being laid off in 2020/2021, people should be preparing for a terrible recession. This company is located in one of the most expensive cities in the US. Compensation matters. If I had to move to work here, I'd have never even looked back because I couldn't survive in that city with what I make. My current city?…
