I just got fired a few days ago from a tea shop that I'd only been working for since last weekend. This job was a rebound from my previous workplace, which had been going through so much restructuring that it was quickly becoming a frustrating place to be. I'd moved to this on the recommendation of the shop's manager, who assured me that it would be a casual gig for me to do on the weekends while self-studying for a job in data science. That was certainly not the case. During the first weekend working there, it was an absolute scramble to learn everything. I'd be chastised and threatened with losing my job for beginner mistakes and was constantly told that I might not have the heart to sell at the volume they required. Despite writing down as much as I could, it still felt like I was constantly missing…

We did the exact same job for the exact same pizza delivery company only she was getting paid slave slave labour. I couldn’t believe it when she told me. I was so shocked I didn’t know what to say. I just stood there, speechless. The horror on my face met her gaze and she agreed with me that it was awful.

Backstory: My girlfriend works in nursing home and they had a lot of covid cases. We decided to reduce the chance of spreading it so we take a rapid test every day before we go to work. So here is the rant: In Germany people have this stupied idea to go to work sick cause the are important and as a trainee in craftsman jobs there is this bullshittery that you get picked on. I'm 27 (most trainees are 16-18 years old) so I don't get bothered by this on most days. I can stand my ground. But last week on Monday I tested positive for covid (thankfully it was a false positive) but i had to wait 2 days for my test results so I called in sick. On Wednesday I was in school and we didn't make a break till 12am so I couldn't call in the morning…

I honestly just don’t do good in face to faces or phone calls. I’m just a very anxious person & the owner of where I work much prefers to keep things face to face or on call. However, I have emailed a request before & have actually requested written responses back to good reception, so I feel I might be more comfortable doing it than I should. Was curious what you guys thought about it? Also side question. Is it odd to request a date they respond by? Like “I would appreciate a response by (day), thank you for your consideration…”

Just got a call from my son in 5th grade. He told me his class is going on a field trip to a place called Biztown where they go get fake jobs and get paid fake money…🤦‍️🤦‍️🤦‍️
