REPOST (I included phone number, y’all found him, number removed). TLDR: Boss didn’t pay me my wage to “teach me a lesson about customer service”. I texted him to pay my wage, treat me with respect, and look in my eye if he wanted me to come back. Here’s what I got! What a clown lol

I applied to 8 jobs this weekend! Screw company loyalty

I planned to leave in August after my team completed a big project, but I am underpaid and overworked. I need to look out for myself and not make the company look great. Remember, do not miss out on opportunities because your coworkers like you. If they don’t like you after you leave then fuck em.

Night shift workers don’t deserve differential pay because they don’t do anything different than day workers.

Talking to my housemate, who is the night-shift shop steward for his local union, and whose collective bargaining contract is coming up. He is unable to attend the upcoming meeting and there is explicit lack of attempt to not replace him with anyone else from his shift for representation. This means that the entire third/ night shift has been left out of their collective bargaining meeting. Apparently the day-shift shop steward told him that people on the night shift don't deserve differential pay because they don't do more than the day shift, and in some cases they do less. I was dumbfounded on many levels at this stupidity. First, nightshift is known to be highly correlated with many health problems above and beyond day shifts, and differential pay is meant to adjust for the health issues and accident hazards related to fatigue, not the actual work. Second, in-fighting at the…

We need to revamp how we think about work in America. Not just pay people a living wage.

America is ass-backward when it comes to working. Germany is a fine example of how to do it. Show up 5-10 minutes early to get any and all small talk out of the way and when work begins, it begins. You do not become personal with your coworkers, you’re polite and professional. If you finish work early, you go home. When you’re off shift your employer will not call you back in. Work is work. Your private life is your private life. That’s how Americans should do it. There is no reason for a company to pretend you’re family when you’re not. Also, because they take work seriously and act professionally, harassment, sexual assault, etc is very rare. You literally just do your work and go home. As a result, Germans tend to have shorter workweeks and less stress. This utter lack of professionalism in the American workforce is sad…

Isn’t it hilarious and ironic that Apple, Facebook, Google, Amazon spent billions on their headquarters and offices but workers still prefer to work from home.

Apple Park costs $5 billions. All shiny and fancy. Still couldn't make people want to work at the office lol.

boss told me to lie about hours (advice?)

Please don't tell me to quit or sue or w/e. I need the flexibility this job offers me as a full time stufent and I enjoy actually being challenged. Just looking for practical advice. Our (very) small company is owned by an old man. Everything centering around pay is very old-school. Hours are manually entered, pay stubs are handwritten and photo copied. The hourly rate isn't on the paystub. I just learned I never got the raise I was promised a year ago. My fault for not checking, I know. I'm supposed to be getting 18.5, I've been getting 15.5. It's usually such small amounts that I glance and think “that seems about right”. This recent one was not and It dawned on me that I've been getting screwed for a year. I make pennies so it isn't more than 1k, but that makes a big difference. I told my…
