It's just so sad. People aren't getting rewarded anymore for trying, so we just aren't trying. Jobs simply need to understand they have to do more than scale with inflation(which isn't even what most are doing anyways). They NEED to pay more for peoples self respect, or you just won't get any. Also you know why I say people are getting lazy? It's because the fuckin EMPLOYERS are lazy. ZERO innovation from this country for the masses. Just money money money, and oh yea money. They don't try and we reciprocate that and they think that's on us. nah. This feels like one of those things that would and will destroy a society from the inside outside.

Got Covid, had a deadline
Worked at my firm for 6 months, I tested positive last Friday for the big 19, we had a contractual deadline on Wednesday for our client. My boss leaves for another firm on Thursday and has completely checked out as of 6 weeks ago, my understudy isn't experienced enough to prepare what is required for the deadline. So I decided to WFH Monday through Wednesday to hit the deadline and avoid all the drama and bullshit that would have come my way if we missed it. Got no thanks from my company or the client. No understanding when there was a minor error in the submission, I tried to take Thursday as sick and I keep getting pulled in to do whatever unimportant horseshit the bosses needed who would then ask “are you OK” to which I'd reply something along the lines of “no actually I'm worse than yesterday”…. silence…
I'm trying to help out my partner, they are getting totally screwed at their workplace. We both live in Oregon, and they work at a small cafe. Their boss has been nothing but insufferable, rude and just an all around dick. Calling people a “waste of space” And behaving very passive aggressively and childish. That's another story though. My partner got hired on as a full time employee, working 40hrs a week. And just today they got a message from their boss about the new schedule going into effect this Saturday, and they bumped them down to only working 3 days a week. No notice, no prior communication about said changes. My question for you guys is this legal? Can an employer do that without a notice? We have bills to pay and 25hrs a week isn't going to cut it!
I do my work, I work late, I work diligently, I’m constantly communicating with my supervisor, I ask questions I take notes. I’m available whenever, and my manager never speaks to me. Well, this morning she asked me to work on a project that what I thought would be quick actually took me all day to do. At 5 pm I get a call from the recruiter saying tomorrow would be my last day. When I asked what happened “it’s just not working out. She was very vague and what little she did provide me for reasoning seemed little and I didn’t agree with her decision at all” And just like that- unemployed. We are expected to give two weeks, they don’t even give two hours. I’m completely shocked, there was never a timeline of expectations of me, there was never a reported problem or any issues on my work.…
right before driving to my home that I don’t have the money to pay rent for, from my minimum wage job, hoping I don’t run out of gas on the way. This sucks!
Hi everyone, So I worked at some pyramid scheme sales place for about a week back in November. ( I know, dumb move) I made around $400 in commission during that time. My then-boss told me he would mail me the check. Fast forward to three months later, I still have not received my check and he is not responding to any of my messages or calls. I wrote a long message to one of the higher ups about how it was illegal to not pay me for the money I worked for and a day later I get an email from ADP that they issued me a check for half the amount of money I'm owed. Well now it's been two weeks and I haven't received that check either. I know it's illegal to issue a check and not mail it out and I also know wage theft is…
Trying to deny me medical leave
Since I started my job I was honest with them that I would be taking time off for a surgery well it’s now that time. I request 11 work days which was two weeks. Our company has always said “unlimited time off” so wasn’t I shocked when I was told I could take up 10 days but not 11 despite it being for a fucking surgery. I asked them to site the company policy that states I can only take up to 10 days including medical needs. I am beyond livid – I know the entire reason they are saying I can’t take the time because I am one of 3 people that can do my job fully and two of them are getting promoted right after my surgery. When will businesses realize they won’t get far with this bullshit? Needless to say I’ll be getting my resume to a…
I'm going to keep this as anonymous as I can, since I live in an at-will state and I don't want to risk having someone potentially lose their income. A person I know (not me, I'm self employed for reasons like this) works for a rather large company. Their position within the company requires they have a doctorate in their field. The pay isn't bad at all, and this person is actually one of the higher paid people in their field. To preface, this person has not received a pay raise since they started working at the company, which was 8 years ago. Recently the company has been using this person as a “fixer”. They get sent to stores that are failing with the intent of them getting the store running properly again. This person is very good at their job, and is able to fix these stores. This does…
