Retaliation for discussing salary…
I was recently promoted, and received an insulting low-ball salary offer for the new position. I know it was low because I asked my coworkers at the position level I was promoted to what they made, and they told me. A colleague in HR also confirmed what the salary band for the position was. Based on my experience level and that of my coworkers, the salary is way too low and they're trying to underpay me. I made it pretty clear that I found the salary offer insulting and that it was making me consider other options. When I asked to negotiate my salary, the VP of my department agreed to meet with me to discuss. I told them my rationale for asking higher and how I had learned pay range from my colleagues, and he responded by saying that I shouldn't be discussing pay with my coworkers and that…
USAA Service Desk: An inside look
So here's the scoop: USAA hired a company by the name HCL America to run their Service Desk. In a nutshell USAA and Service Desk were now 2 companies working on the same campus. This posed a major problem because USAA was terrible at effectively communicating to blue badges (actual USAA employees) to not bog down SD with non IT issues. And Service Desk wouldn't tell USAA to stop calling with non IT issues. This speration also caused USAA employees to treat Service Desk like absolute bottom corner dumpster contents. Constant annoyance with BS issues, such as, how to tie shoes, how to nurse a baby and even how to change a tire. Hell one guy called in to change his password, while driving down the highway!!! On top of this HCL decided to use other contracting companies to hire and by doing this they themselves can offer benefits but…
I need to be super clear. I love my job. I find it fulfilling, my bosses are amazing, most of the employees are great and the average length of employment here is well over a decade which is crazy long considering it’s basically retail. The bosses pay well above market rate, well above minimum wage, and never encroach on our time off. If a shift needs to be covered they do it themselves. Like, when they say they consider the employees family it’s because we’ve all been written into the owner’s will. I love my job. But sometimes the customers make it feel like no amount of money makes it worth it. This week I’ve been screamed and cussed at because a customer got sent to collections after 2 and a half years of not paying a monthly rental. She could have returned our inventory at any point. Instead she’s…
Hi everyone, I'm a Graphic Designer based in New York City with more than 7 years of experience in my filed. I was hired at my current position during the peak of the pandemic and I've accepted the first offer they gave me which is 70k, no bonuses. It wasn’t what I wanted but I needed a job since I was losing lots of clients because of the pandemic. After one year, the company has grown a lot, acquiring other companies while the team is still the same, no new hire in the Creative Team. My workload has increased and knowing my background as a Photographer they asked me to take the lead on different Photoshoot all over the Us, sometimes even during the weekend, without any overtime, weekend or night work pay raise; sometimes a shooting starts at 8am and finishes at 8pm. I'm more than happy to help…
