My mom lives in Indiana and has been working part-time for a shitty boss in a government office for 9 years. He's verbally abusive towards customers (behind their backs) and is only nice to certain people in the office, my mom not being one of those people. She just noticed he reduced her hours by 15 minutes and is now wondering how many times he might have done this. She's not in a great place financially, and has hung onto this job out of desperation and fear of finding something new, especially since they were considered essential workers during covid and she was still able to work. What can she do in this situation? I'm afraid she won't want to pursue anything legal since it could risk her not having that job at all. Her career has consisted of unappreciated and grossly underpaid roles like a secretary, before landing here…

Cut mental health care coverage.
I work for one of the largest law firms in the world. We do work globally and have offices everywhere. They just quietly dropped mental most health care from the insurance. I've been fighting for reimbursement since my specialist is out of network and just found this out today. After the endless feel-good emails about mental health importance, I shouldn't be surprised they cut it.
Advice for giving my notice?
I’m finally ready to give my notice at work but I’m nervous. It’s a family company and I knew the family before working for them (big mistake working for friends, I see that now). I’m scared for how they are gonna react. Has anyone gone through something similar and have advice?
A note on the Fed:
Yes, as rates go up home prices go down. Yes, the MBS buying program has been artificially suppressing rates. But apart from whether you’re a housing bull, bear or just an average joe looking for shelter, you should agree to the following: The Fed shouldn’t be picking winners and losers. They have been messing with market cycles for too long for personal and political gain. We need a revamp of the federal banking system, one with more clearly defined rules, more autonomy and more data driven policy. Nearly all of us could see inflation from a mile away and yet the Fed could not? It is scary to think that the institution that has the power to impact our lives so much is either filled with ignorant morons or is corrupt to the core. Every time that they mess with the economic cycle to “stave off” a recession, they add…
No access to drinking water?!
At my job, (im a mechanic)…. I get thirsty, and bossman closed the water fountain when covid started, there is no access to drinking water unless its from the tap at the sink…. I was wondering if this was legal? It is a big facility that should have one accessible anyways for customers. Is this illegal or just unethical?
Just a thought I had today.. maybe it's been discussed before… but I think that every time a company asks me to be reference for a potential employee, that the company needs to pay me for my time and effort for providing that reference. If I need to take time out of my day to rate someone by having the company ask me lots of questions, I should get paid.
