Vent. My company has been completely mismanaged and absolutely no communication. When in a meeting today that could have been an email, my coworker and I asked similar questions – what are these changes, I don’t understand what my role is here, can you clarify xyz, etc. – and the VP said, “what I think is you should have some chamomile tea and do some yoga” to which I said “great idea for stress relief but it doesn’t help me do my job”. And his response? “Oh come on we’re all having fun here.” This man has been married for 20+ years. Wars have been started for less than telling a woman to relax.
So a little back story. my wife has a degree in business and aesthetics. She does laser and Botox treatments for people. She is the only non Caucasian woman that works there of 7 people. She is always complaining how at least 3 days a week she doesn’t get a lunch or break but everyone else does. So she works about 10 hours with no break and a recent assistant director position was recently given to the new young girl that works there. (Friends with the director) My wife’s qualifications surpass any person (especially the new girl). No missed work days, no vacation days taken, bachelors in business and multiple aesthetics degrees. Today I received a text from my wife saying she feels like she is going to pass out and is hungry…. I’m half tempted to urge my wife to put in her notice and speak to a lawyer…
Umm, what the af.
I was called hostile and accused of making a toxic work environment not because I questioned my team, but because I didn't use emojis when questioning them on work processes Meanwhile they send borderline rude and passive aggressive messages followed with a smiley face so it's okay
Tyranny Reigns!
The company is going under: Rumour has it that someone breached contract obligations for a client that is 70% of our business… Seems like a dumb move, but what do I know? Anyway.. the owner of the company, a 74 year old, good old boy, comes into the office and rounds us all up like we are children and proceeds to inform us that anyone caught on a cell phone during work hours will be terminated immediately. Going forward family can call the front desk for emergencies and phones should be left in our cars etc. Apparently, the reason the company is tanking and we are losing this contract is because we are all spending far too much time on our personal phones during business hours instead of being productive. For the record, our policy on cell phone usage just restricts us from taking pictures or plugging our phones into…
I actually spoke to a lawyer about this and he suggested I send an email to get “company culture” explained in detail so I have a structured plan when I return on Friday. I’ve been told if I don’t engage in company culture I’m fired, but I have no idea truly what that means. How would you word an email to get an appropriate response from management? I’d like to have a paper trail but my emails are always pretty personal sounding. I’m not great with corporate lingo. Please and thank you for you help!
I am so tired. Edit: is it possible without a cut in pay. Lol an important distinction! IMO productivity would be the same if not higher… and we’d be happier, which is all the reason I think we need…
