Month: April 2022
I was hired through a employment group. Yesterday was normal as i was just working. My manager came over to me to tell me about a 2 hour long meeting..which Is weird because I work at a call center for emergency housing. They told us about a contract that was being broken and the company didn't want to work with my employment group anymore. We were fired and told to pack up our cubicles. They even brought the police… So yeah I work for Emergency rental assistance with utilities. Other departments are Escalations (in charge of stopping eviction). Processing ( in charge of working through applications). Landlord team (in charge of verifying Landlords and property managers). Finance ( in charge of sending out funding) and many more. They fired everyone….the people who applied will be paying the consequences soon. People will be evicted or possibly have utilities shut off…My entire…

I just got a bonus
“I would like to take this opportunity to recognize your efforts. Thank you for all your hard work in assisting the team with the [redacted] project. You have been recognized with a bonus of $32.50. We appreciate your hard work and dedication.” …$32.50 I get paid $28/hr and my bonus is $32.50.
I have been working at a startup since September of 2021. I was hired for one role full time, but the entire duration of my employment I have been 100% performing a different role than what was in my offer letter. I have been accepting and completing these tasks this entire time with no problem, and for the first time today I asked my boss why aren't we giving some of these tasks to the actual employee that they belong to. My boss asked everyone to leave the meeting room and then proceeded to berate me. I recently just landed a new job two weeks ago and they want me to start next week. I've tried to beat around the bush to get a temperature check on how it would go over if I put in my notice soon, my boss did NOT respond well to my questions, and said…
In an interview today, I was asked the question, “what is your plan if you don’t get this job?”. I was kind of taken aback and replied something like, “to keep looking for a job in this field, as I am currently looking for a full-time job”. This was my third interview with the company, and honestly this question kind of came out of the blue, like what do you expect me to do, just die? What was the point of that question, and has anyone else ever been asked that question before? Just trying to gain some insight.
I need to vent, I'm so furious. A good friend of mine is getting screwed for doing what he was told. Small business, “like family,” all the red flags. Was told “not to worry” about certain things. Moved on to other work, which the “family” didn't take kindly to, and now those certain things are coming back to bite him. Small business owners are not your friend; they are just as big of greedy bastards as the big corporations. Don't trust any of them. They are not your friend, and they will throw you under the bus if it's at all expedient.
