Month: April 2022
So, a year back a friend of my GF offered her a job working with her for her dad, who's one of the most successful movie and tv producers in our country. It was a lot of work and the pay wasn't all that great (in fact it was beneath industry standards), but she accepted because it was an inn into the industry and she had no job at the time. The deal they made was for 3 months worth of work paid $20k each month (at the time it was like 200 dollars). They worked their assess off, and the guy was incredibly disorganized and demanding, my GF tried to covertly complain to her friend but she would excuse her father saying things like “it's a starting position, we are being paid more than enough, and if we work hard we'll have great jobs!” (of course, her friend is…
Etsy Boycott to support Sellers
Hey all! I haven’t seen a post about this yet on anti work and I just wanted to get the word out! Many shops that sell on the Etsy platform will be going dormant through April 11 – 18 in order to protest the most recent hike in seller fees. Over the last few years Etsy has been “Amazon-ifying” the platform, claiming that they are attempting to make the site more efficient and attractive to consumers. Nothing is simple when you’re poor .
I just stumbled upon this subreddit, and I love the POV everyone has regarding work, I wanted to share my situation: I hate to be negative, but man the closer I am getting to 30, the more awful I feel that I am now this much older with absolutely nothing to show for it. I've worked at a shipping warehouse, and at a machine shop doing entry stuff and that's about it ever since I graduated high school. Some of my younger members of my families are making more than double than what I am, in jobs that aren't corresponding to their degrees. Both my younger cousins just somehow got a job for 85k-100k a friggin year, while I'm here doing slightly above minimum wage. It boggles my mind to how they even got it, but my uncles and aunts keeps rubbing it in my face and I already feel…
Nah, I’m good.
One of my bosses just lightly scolded me because I didn't get an important email over the weekend to fix a broadcast error. I mentioned I'm not on the clock on the weekends (I'm hourly). She said, “it's kinda different here.” I won't let them make me read my emails when off the clock. If they want me to do that I need to either be salary or pay me more.
