My throat, chest and joints hurt, I’m not breathing well and my head is full of gunk … but … as I’ve not been able to take any time off since before Xmas, and having to work most weekends, it’s kinda nice to finally get a bit of peace and do nothing. I was asked (via text message) if I was feeling well enough to do some work remotely today (Saturday) so I didn’t answer. I work for a small GIS (maps) firm and due to lack of staff investment I’m now the only one who can set up around 80% jobs that come in before others can work on them. I used to have a right-hand man who I trained but he left a few years ago and has never been replaced. Now the few colleagues I have only have basic GIS skills and so without me the office…

Is this an unreasonable request?
I’m choosing between two jobs I’m interested in at the moment and with one of them, I’ve been able to speak to the project manager at great length and ask him a ton of questions about the job and how he operates. With the other one, I had to ask to speak to the project manager specifically and the meet and greet is not scheduled until Wednesday. I really need to decide by Monday. The recruiter asked if these questions are impacting whether or not I’ll sign the offer. Am I being unreasonable in my request to meet my supervisor before accepting an offer? This job pays 10k higher so it’s hard to turn down
Why do I not get paid for lunch.
Is my work just crazy? Or is this a normal thing.. this makes no sense as to why I don’t get paid for a 30 minute lunch break. I still have to be at work, can’t make my own food, or relax in my own home or something. Idk if this is just a me thing or if anyone else thinks unpaid lunch breaks is one of the dumbest things ever
Quit my job because I was assigned the jobs of seven people and paid two months late (every time) for the pleasure. Served my notice, and trained up a new “freelance contractor” to take my place. Finished work a couple of days ago, logged off, and deleted all my work stuff off of my computer, because I don't need this crappy company accusing me of sabotage. I've already started my new gig and it's lower pay but I'm loving it, so no need to ever run back to this CEO. Ended up getting an email today from the new hire with the CEO CC'd (on a Saturday, mind you) giving me another assignment. On my personal email. On a Saturday. After I finished my notice. Didn't even mention compensation or the fact that I'd quit. Companies today have some gall lmao (PS: nope, I'm not going to do it, and…
I actually love my coworkers to bits and my work environment, but if you yell at me in front of customers and demand I take instructions from a woman that has had several people in tears, that several people have confessed to being scared of, a woman that left her old job because people refused to work alongside her, I'm gone. I'm nervous af, but I'll be damned if Im going to “learn to get along with” a workplace bully. Multiple complaints have been dismissed with “she's good at her job”. Except she's not. She's dismissive, rude, unapproachable and lazy. I refuse to let someone like that have authority over me for minimum wage, quite frankly, I'd rather be unemployed. There will be no negotiations or mediations. I'm out. My happiness means more to me than keeping my boss happy. Fuck you A.
So the title pretty much sums it up, I've been unhappy where I am for a while as the pay isn't great and the work environment leaves me walking on eggshells so I needed out. My boss is a bit of a split personality and can go off like a psycho at the drop of a hat then turn nice without notice which should have been a red flag the first time it happened, a colleague left about a month ago because of this and called me out of the blue to let me know about a job with his old boss. I followed up and went for an interview the other day and the company seems to really have itself together and offered a lot more varied work as well as tickets and qualifications for machines I haven't been on yet which I've been trying to get for years.…
