Worked at a large west coast casino resort as a sous chef for a little over two years and the executive chef relied on me to do every goddamn thing. Despite the relative low pay and horrible roach infestation, the place did allow me relative autonomy where my hours, recipes, etc. were concerned and as such wasn't the worst job ever, until they hired a young line cook with a giant confederate tattooed proximately on his for arm. When I was like wtf to the executive chef he just shrugged like he didn't know why the culinary department and HR would be okay with it. Now, I'm not the thought police, but where I grew up racists kept their bullshit to themselves. I spent the next 2 hours shutting down my station, and packing my stuff. Even destroyed my client list ( mine was the largest in the branch). When I got home about 3 hours later, he called me.. Boss- ” Hey Z! Where are you at? I Can't find you in the office.” Me-” you fired me. Why the hell would I be at work?” Boss-” it's April fools! It was a joke! Get back In here.” Me-” no. You clearly said I am fired. I'll be taking unemployment for a few months, and filing a complaint with HR.” He lost his shit, and I just hung up on him. It's not fucking funny, and I'm taking a vacation/riding the wrongful termination train. He has called me 10 times, and I think HR is calling me now. Don't want to be rude, but everybody is whining about being paid minimum wage with no prior experience… If you delivered every year things to people who ordered that, you have the same ONE year experience repeated over 10 years.. Can't expect higher pay.. Can't whining about this new guy makes +$2 more than you.. Prove me wrong.. BTW, in every domain, there is thta guy who is having 10yrs experience, but the same experience, who thinks he is the greatest.

I understand work sucks, I wish I didn’t have to work. But what do some of these people expect? Just to get freebies? I’m 34, no stranger to shitty work or shitty bosses. But at the same time need to make a living and quit numerous jobs in order to find one that makes sense financially and for my family. Not all, but some of the posts is of people who just don’t want to work? So how do you expect to make a living? Just curious, just trying to understand.

Need to do inpatient for my depression but definitely can’t afford it. I’ve seen a “trick” floating around here for a while but I can’t remember exactly what it was. Something about asking about a certain fund for people who can’t afford their stay? Any help is appreciated, thanks!
