You can take this job, and shove it! After working 7 years at the same municipal greenhouse I'm calling it quits. Fuck this job. New supervisor is turning what was a cushy job into a back stabbing and toxic workplace. Supporting those that snitch on others and promoting others that have been there a fraction of of the time over those that have been here for years. One of the gardeners essentially got perp walked by the supervisors to the office like a child being called to the principles office for coming back late from lunch…this place can really shove it.
Month: April 2022
I started a job in December that has good health insurance. I was just referred for carpal tunnel surgery. When I get that surgery, it can take at least a month before I’ll be able to get back to work (as an RN) so I can’t do the job without my hands. And I’ll opt for them doing one hand at a time to make the recovery time last longer. Knowing this when I started, I opted for the better short term and long term disability plans. Is there any problem with having them foot most of the surgery bill, paying for my recovery time off at 90% pay, and then me not going back after/ without telling them any of this of course. Or should I go back for a week or so? Hate the place, staff sucks, I’d rather go travel. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts
Anytime I post something or see newer posts there's a couple of “that's dumb. Capitalism is great. Everything is fine” comments and I just don't understand why you can't see the problems in the world that are attributed to Capitalism
working in the public sector
Is there anyone in here that has worked or currently working in the public sector (i.e. federal/state/local jobs)? For those who are currently working in it, have you thought about going back into the private sector? And for those that did leave, have you thought about getting back into the bullshit?
Fired For….
Just a Question…. Is getting terminated from a Job because “You’re Cold”….. An actual thing ?!? Because it just happened… Thoughts …? Please
Well… the title is pretty much the post. I’m a real estate paralegal, qualify for low income housing bc of the pay, but of course the waiting list is ages. I’m not even three months in, but I don’t think I’m willing to do this anymore.
So i was furloughed in 2020 along with everyone at my company. After 2 months they brought some of us back but we had to sign a new employee handbook acknowledging several policy changes. Among them: no more 401k match, we now accrued PTO and had a new attendance point policy. We no longer have a bank of sick time but that old bank was added to total PTO bank which we now have to accrue. Regardless of reason, calling out sick/personal for a shift results in attendance points. 3 missed shifts and a single 1 minute tardy in a 6 month period is enough points to be terminated. The worst is, they laid off every person who was blacklisted for “liking” a social media post criticizing the Chairman of the board/primary shareholder. The old policy guaranteed employees a layoff payout of 1 week per year of service. Many of…
I was offered a job on a Wednesday, asked for the weekend to consider my options and see if my current company wanted to counter and long story short I got an email Sunday saying the position was no longer available. I don’t think I was being unreasonable, right? Ultimately it all worked out and I realize I dodged a massive bullet, but it’s amazing to me how employers can be so petty.
I work in manufacturing. It's one of the largest manufacturing companies in the area, and certainly the most profitable. To be honest, the pay is quite above average. It's not what we should be getting paid, we should be earning a lot more. But at the end of the day we are getting $25 an hour, in a city where the average per cap income is only 20k a year, and the next largest manufacturer (which happens to be union, and we're not) is only paying $19 an hour. If I'm being true, it's not a terrible job for the pay. It's physical and tiring, but it isn't “backbreaking” labor. It wouldn't bother me going to work so much every day, if it wasn't for the constant belittling by supervisors and management. The way they speak to everyone is dehumanizing and disgusting. I feel like I'm child in school. They…
