Seriously I’m forever reading things like “I was written up for insubordination when I argued with the boss”. What? In a real country you are all co workers and you argue through a problem. To be written up is a childish concept and you are being treated like children by a little dictatorship inside every company. There just is no such concept. And a manager who does it must have a tin pot dictator complex. And the HR people to police it? You actually grew up wanting to do that? Don’t be treated like children and don’t think you live in the land of the free if you can’t debate with the boss and push back on your rights. And don’t get me started on the concept of at will states. FFS you Americans are meant to be the leaders in freedom but you actually allow yourselves to be heavily…
Month: May 2022
I work in a deli in a grocery store. I’m the only man that works in my department. I made a complaint about two different women today to the store manager. One is one of the trainers, however during our first two nights of her “training” me to close she did not say a single word to me. I essentially used common sense to get tasks done and apologized to my department manager if anything wasn’t done properly. I found out that everything was fine and she’s a problem to begin with. In addition she is extremely rude borderline hostile to me and I’ve done nothing to her. The other has made multiple unwanted advancements to me going as far as grabbing my apron and stuffing her number in my pocket, inviting herself to events, telling me that her son needs a father, and tell me that she knows where…
Company screwed me
Been working at this company for the last year and half now been putting in 100% effort barely ever called out only took days off that we’re requested and did my position as best as anybody could, we’ll I worked my butt off from 11$hr to 16hr within a year an half and even got promoted to manager, recently I got my raise to 16hr and was happy as hell and now after all the work I put In doing all my training they tell me they found somebody to replace me on my shift so their demoting me back down to where I started and putting my pay back down to 12$hr after a year of me getting to where I’m at. Without any good reason only that “they found somebody to work my shift” is this legal? What can I do about this?
Denied FMLA Leave
Long story short I'm frustrated. Mental health has been in very bad shape and I was working with a psychiatrist who is going to approve my FMLA leave. I understand full well that this is unpaid time but it guarantees my position and honestly I have the financial means to leave for a few weeks without it being detrimental to paying bills or maintaining my savings and checking account. The price for my mental health treatment is definitely worth it. I am a remote employee and my understanding of the law is that remote employees would be considered headquartered from the office that they report to. In my case this is the main office in New York City. However, my FMLA leave was denied because my personal residence was not within 50 miles of 75 employees or more. My company works with a third party contracting HR source so it…
Except that the amount of monthly pay they’re offering divided by the number of hours they want me to commit per month comes out to less than minimum wage. I just quit a bottom of the barrel job with a super toxic work environment and even they paid the basic minimum wage. At this point I cant even move forward. all this shit is just moving backwards. Bitches want “high quality work and intrinsic motivation commitment” but can’t even offer a minimum wage salary. This job is ideal for me in terms of my skill set, education, training, experience and career goals. Yet, I’m expected to commit all this value I bring to the table for a pay rate that can’t even match the legal minimum?! I’m not even asking a lot, for fucks sake.
Company imploding and toxic
Need to vent about the current state of my job. Don’t worry, I am looking for something else. I’ve been with my company for 4 years. Even before the pandemic, it was a remote job. When I was offered the job, I was told that it would require a little bit of travel, up to ONE overnight trip per month. Keep that in mind: once a month. At the time, that was fine for me because it was mostly remote, I was salaried, and the hours were flexible as long as I met my deadlines, etc. It was a small company with about 30 employees. Then, Covid happened, and everything changed. There was no big announcement. We were all just doing our best to stay afloat, accommodate our clients, and keep our jobs. At the time, when so many Americans were losing their jobs left and right, I just did…

Apologies, its a long one due to context. TLDR at the bottom. A good friend of mine (F29) has been working as a receptionist at a real estate company for 5+ years and its always been a toxic and terrible place to work. They have incredibly high turnover and pay the bare minimum wage for above and beyond work. As the pandemic hit in 2020 and restrictions came in (Melbourne, Australia), working from home was required by the state unless your job was impossible to do from home. So you'd think a receptionist, who's work predominantly consists of answering phones and working on a computer would have made an easy transition to WFH? Nope, my friend was made to go into work each day still. She was alone in the office working 9 am – 5:30 pm while her colleagues worked a few hours a day from the comfort of…
