How Capitalism Steals Time

The consequences of capitalism are increasing. Companies are forcing their workers to give up more and more of their time so that the companies can stay competitive with each other. Whichever company is more ruthless wins. Workers are forced to build a façade (see LinkedIn posts about how everyone loves their job) and maintain that façade (wear make-up, buy business clothes, drive the “right” kind of car) in order to stay in their positions. As jobs become more stressful, it's harder and harder to recover after a day of work. See the full discussion here: https://adifferentexistence.com/how-capitalism-steals-time/ Welcoming any feedback. This is one of my first blog posts. Share with boomers you know, maybe this will help educate them!

3 questions on applications I came across today

Company #1 “Can you work full-time, without interruption, and interference from other positions?” (This was a freelance job NOT salary) Company #2 “What is your sexual orientation?” They listed many options, one of which was decline to answer “What is your parents highest level of education” there were 3 options, none to decline Both of these question were required to apply. Honestly, who is in charge of this process at these companies? Can’t imagine why Company #1 can’t find any freelancers if that’s the last question they ask on their application. Got all the way through, saw that, and noped right out of that application…”are you willing to work full time, but not be hired full time, to hell with life and any other means of income?”

if the interviewer asks “we’re looking for someone who’s motivated more than just money”

Tell him this. In order to fully perform at this job i need to know that i can afford my basic livelihood. If I'm stressing about how to pay my bills and support for my financial needs i can't give my 100%. So it is very important that the salary meets my expectations So can perform according to your expectations.

forced to “resign”

I was a part-time teller at a credit union, working about 30 hours a week. This past Tuesday I was approached by the assistant COO to see if I was interested in switching to the afternoon shift to better fit the needs of the branch. This would have to go into effect on Monday. I asked for a night to consider if that would be possible for me and my family, to which she agreed. However she failed to mention that my position would be terminated if I could not make the change. I found that out later from my own supervisor. The next day (Wednesday), I said that it would be impossible to work that position, and so they would have to terminate me, and my last day would be Saturday (which was my last scheduled shift before that mandatory switch on Monday). Today (Friday), I asked my supervisor…
