It Is Time to Unite
Like when you go to a job interview you're asked to literaly be perfect in every way, and preferably bé more perfect than the other candidates. Companies are more than far from perfect, but because they're in a position of power the can affoard to still be picky despite not deserving it. For exemple you know those stupid companies Always complaining about not having enought workers ? Always asking 2,3, 4 or more years of experience while not understanding the reason why they can't find anyone with so much expérience is precisely because all companies are asking that so no one can enter a company to gain experience in the first place ? Well turns out when you ask them you should still apply anyways ! Because “well yeah but the job offer doesn't Always reflect what we're actually looking for…” So I'm supposed to apply for a company who's…
If dream job, what's your dream job? If not at all, why? also, this is disregarding money btw
PTO Payout
I put in my 2 weeks recently and was under the impression that I would get paid out for the 40 hours that I have left in PTO. I have been talking to HR and they are saying that I do not get paid out. I got all my PTO on my hire date anniversary which is Feb 12th. It is also part of their policy that since I didn’t work the entire year I essentially haven’t earned all the time off I was given? I am just super confused. I’m in Michigan if that helps at all.
Merit based compensation?
Okay, I’ll bite. Commission based or merit based, ratio paid employees. If I were to hire a sales or production employee based on merit, what is the anti work sentiment? For example, if I were to hire a sales employee that would receive 25% of direct sales net profit commission and 5% residuals (work that comes from the initial sale that isn’t part of the initial sale, so free money for life), is that an unfair wage in the eyes of this subreddit?
A driving factor of not having universal healthcare is it will “destroy the private insurance industry”. Why don't they care about the jobs in women's healthcare then? Food for thought. It's all about control, never forget.
I work as an IT Help Desk Technician. I applied to a company that offered a WFH situation. I paid for a 4 days vacation in late July(technically 2 work days as this is from Friday to Monday), with a non refundable rule. I did 2 interviews for the company. I brought up the vacation I had planned during the interview process because I didn't want it to be a surprise to them if they decided to hire me. I get a call one day that I have been hired by the company and they'd send me my contract through email. During the call I brought up the vacation one more time because I wanted to make sure this won't be an issue before I sign anything officially (keep in mind, I had other offers from other places but was interested in this one because of the WFH benefit). I…
Thanks for the advice, LinkedIn.
Gaslighting
Hello, I am sorry to bother everyone, however I thought maybe I could get some advice for a workplace issue I am having. I work for a 200 year old college in America and they froze our wages during the global pandemic which resulted in me making the same pay for over 3 years. Now, I am arguing with my superiors because they kept the temporary employees pay rate the same prior to any post pandemic compensation. My managers keep gas lighting me with mental illness for asking for higher wages. It’s to the point now where my assistant operations manager is referring an employee relations specialist. I’m at the point where I am indifferent if I get terminated. I was just looking for any advice if anyone else had navigated similar waters, maybe what worked for you if you were successful in getting higher wages for everyone? Thanks in…
