Month: June 2022
I work in an children's home as a team leader. For 6 years there has been talk of a relocation. My team, my manager and I have worked our butt's off during the pandemic, non stop for 3 years. Risking our lives and our families to continue working and helping the young people. As an example of how the upper management like to operate; I was told to look for another job at the beginning of the pandemic when I protested the upper management not letting us wear masks for protection until it was charity/company policy to let us. So I've been pissed off for a while. For the last 2 years we've been told relocation or redundancy is coming. So I have held off my personal plans (to build a house) for 2 years as I was going to take the redundancy and some time off to focus on…
I hate discovering this subreddit
I hate realizing I'm exchanging my labor for shit wages. That corporations lobby to have legislation that benefits them at the expense of the working class. That at the rate of COL and wage stagnation I will never own a small, modest house. That if I get into a car accident- because car manufacturers successfully worked against creating a public transportation system- I will become financially bankrupt. That its all a lie; the American Dream, working hard will pay off, that retirement is possible, its all a bag of lies.
I'm so glad I'm leaving this place. I gave my best years to this company. Now I'm 30, depressed, hardly anything to show. Instant 5$ an hour raise with the new company I'm starting with. These middle management parasites are worthless.
i have been overworked and underpaid in my job. so 3 days back i asked my department head and HR manager for raise and after 2 days of leave when i returned to work there has been circulating rumors from my colleagues that i have already resigned and HR have already decided my replacement. I just asked for raise and they are already planning to fire me. But i have decided to wait till my appraisal this month and resign thereafter(whatever the appraisal). Edit : and the worst part is I declined an offer from another company to stay in this company.
Why is this even a thing?
2.50$ a year in bonus.
Ran into an Old Foreman who retired recently. He was griping about the Company. Which was unusual because he was very much a “Company Man”. So he worked 20 years for this place and for his retirement gift they gave him a 50$ gift card to the keg. What was even more funny was he told me he ran into a former manager at that same company that commented on his retirement. The manager was only there 2-3 years. And, that manager got a 1000$ gift card upon quitting. My Foreman said to me “That's 2.50$ a year of bonus for my hard work”. I didn't feel bad for him. I'm glad at least he realized what we all realized earlier on. Screw these companies that exploit us at every turn. Whatever they're paying just know they're paying you the minimum. And, you give them just that in return. Enough…
