Hey y’all. I am at wits end with HR at my workplace. I work for a community college that often brags about being a top ranked place to work in the state (Texas). Recently we’ve been forced to return to the office full time, which wasn’t the case when I was hired. The commute led to a drastic uptick in anxiety and I’ve had panic attacks in traffic on my way to and from the office. I submitted an ADA accommodation request, filled out by my psychiatrist requesting to be allowed to work remotely. Today my boss and his boss met with HR about my request and afterwards I was told that I am no longer allowed to wfh the 2 days a week they previously told me that I could. This happened a few years ago but i found this sub today and thought the story would fit right in. ​ A little bit of context: i was transferring from one university to another(in another state) and had to wait for 8 months for my new semester to start(the university was fixing the schedule after a 5 months teacher strike), so i had some time to kill. I was already good at dealing cards since i always did so whenever me and my friends played, so i took the job just to earn some income while waiting on the transfer. My boss tried to have me come in today but our schedule was already posted and everyone else was able to have two days off. These last two weeks were hard. Because we're understaffed I've worked 7 days. and a day off then worked another 6 days. My boss calls me after work on Monday(yesterday) trying to say I come in tomorrow. I told her no, I'm scheduled off Tuesday and Wednesday. She told me there is not enough workers. They told me I had a victim mentality. This is a follow up to a post I made the other day. If I were face to face with them when they said that I would have quit on the spot. I am kind of shocked in a way that they actually said this. It seems out of place even for them. I can’t help but laugh though because again I am just so stunned lol. I am curious what do people here make of this??? What would you think if your boss said this to you?
