Capitalism is working perfectly. You are supposed to be exhausted and worried you’ll lose your income to die penniless. It makes it easier for them to take advantage of you and pay you less. If you’re too busy worrying about paying bills, you don’t have time to fight the system. Keep on working.

I showed up on time; but was told to leave because “on time means you’re late.”

I had an interview last week for a smoke shop retail sales associate position. I showed up promptly at the interview time; and was told to wait for the manager who was just finishing up her lunch. Okay. I wait for about 10 minutes or so. And then she comes in, introduces herself to me and says; “We value being on time here; and since you didn’t show up 15 minutes early for this interview it shows me that you would cut it too close showing up on time for your shifts. For that reason I will not be interviewing you today.” 🤯 I hate it here. Side note: I ended up finding a much less toxic place of employment so it all works out I guess.

C’mon people, if you can’t afford to live, just sell your lake homes and other summer properties. You’ll get top price for it right now!

why is it unprofessional to ask about pay during an interview?

today i had an interview with a company who did not disclose pay in their job listing. and when i asked about it, they told me it was unprofessional to ask and that can be discussed in the contract. that to me is a red flag. so i said, (paraphrasing) “respectfully, i'd like my potential employer to be as open and honest with me as i am with you. if i am to just take your word for it, how will i know you have any respect for me? the question in and of it self should establish trust if we are honest with each other from the beginning.” she was taken aback, and since it was over zoom, i decided to end the interview and not pursue the position any further. seriously. dont apply for a job unless they can respect you.
