I feel the need to explain something to the generation that does not remember, or never saw, a world where one person with a high school education could support a family of five comfortably. This was real. For millions of US families it was normal. It was stolen from you.

this is pathetic.
It's actually insane especially during these heat waves. How do these businesses expect me to run around in a thick ass cotton shirt with dress pants in 34°C (94°F) all day in retail and not just pass out mid shift, the AC isn't strong enough to warrant this, like at least let us wear shorts. Why do these uniforms have to be so strict, it's ridiculous and unreasonable.
I’m an angry mama bear.
My daughter, 25, recently got Covid. She tested positive on Monday the 28th. She works for a nationwide pharmacy chain and when she messaged her manager he wanted her to be back at work by Friday. He also made it a point to try to make her feel bad because he was shorthanded. I told her, that's not your fault and don't let it bother you. Thursday comes around and she's still very sick. She messages him again and says she won't make it in Friday but she'll do her best to be in Saturday. Saturday comes around and she goes to work, even though she's feeling horrible. They end up sending her home because of how sick she is. When she got home from work on today I took her temperature. She was at 103! I told her she needs to get more rest. She messaged her manager and…
racist boss not scheduling me hours
So I work at a country club in Newport as a pool server. My boss is white, go figure, I'm Asian and I've never been targeted before in my life til I started working here. I'm a minority but there's tons of Asians in california. Anyways my boss doesn't like me and is very condescending towards me. I think she may know my background and I came from a top university, I'm just working temporarily here while I change careers. I suggest changes to their PoS BC I'm tech savvy and I want things to be easier for the staff. I don't want to overstep her but I've always offered to help way more than the other servers who are just HS or college kids. I like her boss better than my direct boss. And I talked to the director about my direct boss targeting me and not being nice…
Today at work while pushing cart I got a heat rash that felt like a 9 on hurt scale. Not sure what to put on it to take the hurt pressure off. Wish I didn't have to work
This happened years ago but I thought it might be appreciated here. While I was in college I worked as a low level manager in a department store in the mall. It was awful and the store manager did everything within her power to somehow make it worse. I was in charge of all the cashiers. Like most stores we had those stupid surveys on the receipts and they made a huge deal out of them. They asked questions about the merchandise and pricing and quality, all things I can’t control, but that doesn’t matter, they just want to see 10’s. This particular department store sucked so of course we didn’t get that many. The scores rating the cashiers were always good and I think that should be all that counted on our end. But no. The store manager liked to tell us that if we couldn’t bring up the…
So I get a 30 minute unpaid lunch for every shift longer than 6 hours that I have to clock out for. I eat in my car everyday partially to get away from people and partially because I buy lunch at different fast food places in the area. (I know it's cheaper to bring my own lunch but my living situation doesn't allow me to do any kind of meal prep, even the night before, without someone else eating my food.) I'll admit I tend to take closer to 35 minute lunches because who wants to go back to retail hell? For the last 2 years, no one has had a problem with this, I always take my lunch last so no one is waiting for me to get back to the registers so they can eat, and if I need a longer lunch for an errand or something, I…
