I'm temporarily working at a fancy restaurant in my area. They have us work 8 hour shifts, sometimes doubles and don't give us a true meal break. They have a “family dinner” around 3 pm before we open. But if ypu don't get food then you're fucked. How do I report them? I'm afraid to ask other coworkers about how they feel about this as I only talk to them in person on the clock. I'm probably going to have to leave this job in a few weeks when I restart my job but I still want better for those who have to stay on.

A little while ago a major company here in Canada had an outage that left millions without phone or internet for the day. I just spoke to my mom, a health care worker who works from home and needs both to do her job, and she told me that her company sent out an email stating that anyone who was impacted by the outage can either take it as a holiday or they simply won’t be paid for that days work. She’s a salaried employee and in a union.

So I've been working for this company for almost 4 years, a few months ago I applied for an internal senior position and I took the job. After a month i decided the new position was not for me so I decided to go back to my old position with the same pay and benefits. Today I decided to check if that position I left was reposted and guess what? It was but the starting salary range was double what I was offered. Does this seem fair that they can increase the salary so soon? Do I have a beef to pick with HR here? It doesn't seem fair to me.

Seeing lots of people reply to their bosses on their personal line outside of work for getting called in last minute due to some business failure on managements part. STOP RESPONDING. THEY CAN'T DO SHIT TO YOU UNLESS YOU RESPOND. Block them on off hours if you need to. You will have plausible deniability that you did not receive the message and can't be retailiated against. You have no contractual obligation to be available to be messaged on your off hours. Wish you guys the best in this fight. Fuck any asshole management that wants to bend you over in the name of sacrifice and expect you smile while they are doing it.
