How to not work
I’m trying to figure out how not to work. Long story short I’m working as a service advisor in a medium size dealership. I want to ultimately open my own small shop with my friend. I’m trying to pay down some debt while making okay money and living with family but my checks vary in size and it makes it hard to plan even the near future… just trying to brainstorm here any help is appreciated.
I’m one class away from having a bachelors degree and I’ve been searching for a job for a few months. I had one for like 2 weeks and they fired me on my second day post training. And I had covid for a week and a half and that put me behind too, but either way I’m struggling. (I also have depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and possibly something else yet to be diagnosed) My family (stepdad really) thinks that I should just take a minimum wage job like McDonalds. I told him if I had to take a job at McDonald’s I would likely kill myself. He didn’t take that well and thought I was being dramatic, and maybe it seems like that but I know my own limits and I can’t do minimum wage fast food stuff when I’ve done higher learning to AVOID that. Also, his response to…
I completely forgot that this existed: HR4728 – 32 Work Week Act. It was introduced last year on 7/27 and looks like nothing has happened since then. Does anyone think HR4728 will go anywhere? It sucks just seeing it sit there.
Discrimination in School Admittance
I'm not sure if this is considered off topic or not but I feel like it applies here. If it's off topic, I'd love to be pointed to a more appropriate place to post this. I've been working for months with Vocational Rehabilitation and the school to get enrolled for a certificate to support a career change that will better fit my needs due to my disability. I had to get ADA accommodations in place at the school which was a long process and then working with voc rehab is always this drawn out affair. I finally got everything put together near the end of the week Friday. The problem is, the program is very popular and the only way to get in is to be one of the first x number of people to register. You can register online, unless you are paying with a vocational rehabilitation voucher. Then…
so who do I contact to report my job
In Illinois They have retaliation against HR complaints of harassment Denied short term disability Have denied paying employees for time off cause of work place injury Lie about starting wages (you sign paper saying you will work for 18 an hour but paid 17) Pad lock the bathrooms The list goes on and I won't give out the name cause I desperately need the health insurance from here just for a little bit but once I'm free I'll spill all the tea
So my manager sucks at scheduling
I got a job at a sports retail shop while looking for a job utilizing my college degree. Meanwhile I had a seizure almost two years ago so my work history has been bleak. So, I want to stay here for at least six months. In my first few weeks there the GM wanted to promote me to management. Cool. Welp, company decided to re-locate her and bring us another manager from another location. She's a 25 year old chick that thinks she's a hot shot but in reality she's a horrible micro-manager that also makes a big production about making the store's schedule for the 20 employees. Well, anyone not hired by her gets little to no hours. My problem is I am one of them, but they end up calling me in at least three times a week so I sometimes end up with hours. My problem is,…
Paying a crap company just to quit
Posting this for a friend who needs advice. I'll try to cover what I can, so apologies now for any confusion. Their company had them sign a contract that states they pay back the sign-on bonus if they leave before 6 months of employment (added the snippet from the contract below). Is there a way they can get out of paying back that $$? Contract states: As an Administrative Assistant, you will receive an initial salary of $45,000.00 per annum. You will be entitled to a signing bonus equal to $5,000 (the “Signing Bonus”). The Signing Bonus will be paid to you no later than 30 days following your start date of April 2022 (est. May 6, 2022, your second paycheck). You must be employed by the Company at the time of payment of the Signing Bonus in order to receive the Signing Bonus. If you leave employment with the…
