They still haven’t paid my fiancé
Hey all, i don’t know what to do about this/if anything can be done, so I thought I’d ask here. My fiancé took a job teaching theatre classes for a few weeks. He is not making much money – 1000 for three weeks of work. Still, we are in a tight spot financially so anything helps right now. Plus he is very passionate about his job. He was supposed to get his full stipend on Friday, but he never received it. He talked to his boss and the coordinator for his job and they chalked it up to an HR misunderstanding. However, it’s looking like he won’t get that money until the end of August now due to the pay schedules of the company. We were relying on that money and really can’t wait until then to get it. Can we do anything? He still has a week of this…
I've been working on a network support team at a small IT company for 3 years now. Has been a good experience that is needed for upward movement in the industry, but there are 2 customers that work us so hard that I have to leave and find a new job for the sake of my sanity. I work over 40hrs/week and am on a rotating on-call schedule. When I first started, on-call was great because I received a flat rate $550 no matter if any tickets were opened. Customers open support tickets via email, so I just check my email from 8-11pm and take any tickets during that time. About a year ago, our owners landed 2 very large customers (will not say who, but very large retail outlets) and they have completely taken advantage of the on-call courtesy. This has resulted in me working the full 27hrs of…
I started this new job about 5 months ago and have felt awful since starting. I thought it could be stress but I was stressed back in college and never was this sick. Within the first 2 weeks, I got an awful cold that had me sick for over 3 months with a deep cough. It felt very much like bronchitis. Now, just as I’m finally getting over the first illness, I come down with another bad cold with a similar deep cough lingering, just less servere. I am starting to wonder if it’s our building. My boss has a very similar cough and he has been to the doctor multiple times with no diagnosis in sight. I know “Sick Building Syndrome” is a thing. We have a very small office with fewer than 5 people in the building at a time so I highly doubt it’s that germy of…
not sure how to keep going
The title says it all i fucking hate this working till death stuff. I feel like therea no escape ill never be able to retire regardless of how much i save or how frugal i live. I have no passions that can make me money and i dont want to work full time and go to school and make my work basically an 80 hour week… the one thing i do have a passion for (my profile) amab people cant really be successful in..
This was back in 2019. Fortune 500, international company. I worked in manufacturing with them. 2017-18 was a huge year for them. Big ramp up where they hired hundreds of people. December 2018 they spent $3 million(this was the rumor) on a party because they had their biggest quarter yet. Around Q2 of 2019 things slowed down. One day a few hours into our shift, people started getting called off the floor for donuts. “Hey guys, we got donuts in the break room. You can head out for them now. Oh not you, Rodrimrr, this is something special for certain people.” After they left, we never saw them again. We heard from some that they walked in, grabbed a donut, and mid-bite were told they were being let go effective immediately. Most people worked through a temp agency so there were no benefits for them. Just gone, no job, no…
the wire cactus shows how detail oriented one can be!
Have you ever had to fire someone?
What was that experience like? I'm genuinely curious about what it's like to be on that side of the table.
How would better work-hours look like?
I can't seem to choose between: 8h x 4d – 32h/week and 6h x 5d – 30h/week Option one you have 3 days a week free but with option 2 you have less work per day
