Asking for a friend. Is it unprofessional? They just got an email from their work saying her services are no longer needed there. Would you respond back?

My manager constantly puts me down
I’ve been working for a big tech company as a software engineer for the past year. Most of the stuff I work on however is more on the networking side and so it hasn’t really been all that interesting to me. Regardless, I used to work really hard to understand things and help the team out. For the past few months I’ve been assigned to a specific manager who thinks he’s a big shot cuz he’s been working at the company for like 15+ years. Dude constantly talks about how i don’t know certain things and when I ask questions he doesn’t really answer them and says “it shouldn’t be this complex it’s simple don’t know why you’re not getting it”. When I’ve been stuck on stuff he’s even gone so far to say “do you even troubleshoot like did you even Google this?” And when I said “yes” he…
Fired over email Friday
I was fired over email on Friday afternoon. No reason was given. I had only been working at this new tech sales job for a month. I hadn't received a quota, an account set or a sales territory yet. Nobody from the company will answer calls or emails. The company is out of the UK but I was based remotely in Texas. I've applied for unemployment but does anyone have any advice? This is a total punch in the stomach and really threatens me financially. My industry is in a hiring freeze and doing mass layoffs currently. I feel so screwed.
The return of the empire…
Has anyone ever been a part of this awkward situation? I previously worked for a company where I had a, let's say, less than glorious exit. Fast forward to 3 years later, new company. Same circus, different clowns as I always say. I know my previous employer is one of our clients, but not a client of my department. I honestly thought I would not run into anyone I worked for. Well, today, my worst nightmare arrived. The multi site manager from my previous company (who obviously remembered me, although I would venture a guess not too well from his reaction) wondered in with our branch manager. The branch manager proceeds to introduce him to everyone. He recognizes me, is congenial (due to the professional setting, I would guess also) and I find any excuse to get back to work as to not have to interact with him any further.…
Not Being Allowed To Sit
Anyone know why companies have started forcing their workers to stand for 8 hrs+. I've applied to multiple jobs within the last month and there are so many that require you to stand all day. I've seen item sorting jobs require you to inspect and sort while standing but can and should be done while sitting. Also manufacturing jobs that require you to stand all day although it can be done sitting down. Since when did working comfortably become such a luxury to find in a workplace. I just don't get it and it upsets me so much that workers are being forced to have aching feet and backs because a company doesn't want their employees to be comfortable.
