Without getting too specific I gotta say a lot of yall would lose it in here lol. I work in trades and people have no respect for people in my position. It's so unprofessional at times and yet I really love my job. I'm a high school drop out and it's given me the opportunity to buy a house and a decent car as well as keep food on the table for my family. I also legitimately enjoy my work. That being said people call me outside work hours almost everyday or call me in randomly. Also some of the bosses in the shop (who are my client) are straight up disrespectful. Boss wants me to consult with the customer about what new foliage they would want, which would involve sitting them down, having in depth discussions of what and where they want said plants positioned. I would also be responsible for ensuring those items are ordered/lined up, delivered and that customer is satisfied with the job at completion. It’s a nice opportunity for the company to make a big chunk of money from this job. My official job description and task is to clean their swimming pool. I will not make a cent off of this work order. Boss cc’d me with the client. This job will generate upwards of $4,000 for the company. I will not earn a cent off of this project.* *last week a coworker overheard me being brought up as a quiet quitter by the boss.

I'm a back end engineer and i have been told I'm not working fast enough. My day isn't always just coding there is a huge variety of things that happen on a day to day basis. This manager told me that I'm gonna need to step it up and has laid out a list of goals for me to achieve. I have been doing basically 90% of what's required of me but that isn't good enough. Some days you just work slow or have off days and not everything is happening at the speed of light. Any advice? I'm looking for a job already but eventually I want to just retire and live somewhere cheap. Also his evidence? No real evidence but verbal.

I’m considering leaving work for while to attend a mental health program, that I hope helps me. I’ve been calling out more than I wish because of my depression and anxiety, I really think if I leave for a bit it would help this. So is my boss allowed to fire me if I leave? I have a feeling he wants to because of my callouts, but I’ve already been diagnosed with chronic depression and multiple other things so I was hoping that would count as one big “ doctors note”???? I’m scared to lose my job because of this. I genuinely like working there but I’m just going though a tough patch. I guess is it like firing a women because bc she’s pregnant, where is makes sense in a way but it’s an asshole move? Or am I just being self centered?

After almost a year of applying & nothing I’m so close to just trying my hand in business again. I have YEARS of experience running a business alone and with a team, plus my experience prior to that. Applied for hundreds of jobs with MAYBE 5-7 interviews. But even with being an amazing boss — paying fairly and above min wage, allowing for you to call out as needed no matter the reason, freedom to leave if you finished your work and I could go on. After my couple employees quit and with no help from my partner I had to shut down and I’ve honestly been terrified to try again.

I work for a small company. Our main thing right now is a small finance podcast. It’s tiny. We’re talking two employees other than the boss and his partner (in life and in business). I’m the project manager/assistant producer/scriptwriter/copywriter/editor (words only)/PR. My coworker does the social media. We both get paid 20/hr (which is basically minimum wage in our HCOL area) No paid lunch, 4 sick days a year, no benefits. We did however win a hybrid work schedule recently. My boss loves for us all to be involved in his meetings, so we both show up early on Friday. It’s a meeting with a funneling marketing guy. We go through the meeting and I realize this is not new info to me and this guy is basically a con artist.
