I've been working a stressful, understaffed job at a certain popular shoe company that starts with an S, for about five months now, and I cant do it anymore. My manager is the worst part, but I have to get through her to quit, can I just leave her a letter on her desk or something and get the heck outta there or do I have to fess up and try to not panic saying it in person? Will quitting without notice affect getting my final paycheck?
Month: September 2022
So today I told my boss I needed a day off in 5 weeks because I have a doctors appointment, he said that wasn’t possible because Black Friday is that month and that no employees can get a day off in November or December, I was tempted to say that I wasn’t asking if I could leave, I was letting you know 5 weeks in advance but I didn’t, instead of arguing with him and putting my self in bad light even though I probably have every right to get a day off I was just thinking of calling in sick instead, then I’ll also get paid, part of me really wished I’d said “you either have the choice to give me a day off where it doesn’t cost the company anything, or instead I’ll call in sick and you have to pay me for it” The job is paying…

So I am a full time school bus driver. I had a friend who was in a wedding this past weekend. The driver of the party bus was asking people if they knew anyone with a valid CDL who would want some extra work. Knowing I had my CDL my friend took a card and forwarded it to me. I called yesterday to offer some weekend help, was told “great can you come tomorrow after your bus run we can talk?” I told him that was no problem. Once I was done with my run and cleaning my bus I would head down. Sure absolutely I like extra money. I do my run, get to the interview 10 minutes early…. He isn’t there. Ends up 10 minutes late. I get out of the car, to a man who is in blue jeans, sneakers and a t shirt…. The same outfit…
I vent on this sub every few weeks and I'm here again… I work from home as a data analyst for a small, micromanaged company. I can attest that “small business” does not necessarily equate to a better/nicer place to work. In fact, in a small company, everyone knows everyone and it's very difficult to fly under the radar. Anyway, I work at LEAST 60 hours a week. As a salaried worker in the USA, I get absolutely nothing extra for the lengthy hours I work. Sadly if I don't keep up with this schedule, I'll just get fired. As someone living on a tight budget, it just isn't practical for me to leave my job and lose my income and health insurance without a back-up plan. I've been applying to various similar positions for the past two months, and though I have had lots of interviews, I have yet…
Working sucks in general and I would rather not do it. But when I work remotely I don't have to pretend to be busy and I can multitask on getting my work done on my work laptop and doing some gaming on my main pc. Plus I don't have a boss overlooking my shoulder when I am working remotely vs in office.
