There are varying levels of knowledge and skills on these complex topics in teams. There are a plethora of choices to make. Somehow I think we should have more of a safety net, and a sense of stability in this environment.
Month: September 2022
The Fed recently released a study (https://www.frbsf.org/economic-research/publications/economic-letter/2022/september/remote-work-and-housing-demand) claiming to show that working from home has caused more than 60% of the increase in housing prices since the end of 2019. The study is a textbook case of confusing correlation with causation. And this isn't just a theoretical failing – the study itself notes a confounding factor that could point to other causes. The study finds a correlation between WFH differences between areas and differences in housing price increases. It also notes that areas “with more remote work before the pandemic saw larger increases in remote work during the pandemic,” and also notes several systematic differences between areas with more WFH and those with less: “types of jobs,” “cheaper and more housing,” and “pleasant climates.” Each of those factors – and systematic differences that cause them, or that they cause – is a possible cause of the observed differences in housing…
Am I stupid?
For context, I'm not in the USA and I'm a indie Illustrator, but I've been struggling mentally a bit in the last year, so things weren't financially good for me, my sister found me a job interview today, and after the interview I said “no” to a possible uncomfortable (and probably toxic) work environment. The overall the place was weird, and I didn't like there at all, all kinds of alarms we're blaring in my head when I entered there, when I told my family that I said no, all of them called me stupid and that was a nice opportunity for money. I've worked solely for money a huge variety of times, and sincerely, my mental health suffered a lot, but if I mention this to them, I will be called lazy and stupid (again!). So what do you guys think? Was I stupid?
While simultaneously asking me to book flights and an Airbnb for a trip she is treating 10 of the employees to… It’s going to cost well over $50,000.
Just saw a commercial and they mentioned how their teas have been 99¢ since 1992. Companies need to be more like Arizona Tea!
I’m a quiet quitter. Trying to do the minimum, low stress, no drama. Go home and get paid. Not trying to overachieve. I want to do my job and go home. My manager is an old head. I feel like mentioning that to start this off. He’s very old school. Anyways, he didn’t even ask but sent out an email that I will be doing an additional job task. Honestly, this job task is out of my scope of work. It makes no sense why I’m doing it, even others have agreed when I told them. Also, I doubt this is coming with a promotion. Nothing was mentioned. Should I even ask? What is the proper way to say decline this? I want to keep my job but I also want to make it known that I’m not there to go above and beyond and I’m not there to do…
I’m struggling in this rat race game.. how do people do this for years it’s like there is no way out other than just surviving. It’s crazy that even making $20 a hour is barely making it. Homes are at all time high cars all time high.. are we really just working for bills? And wait we get a couple days for vacation once a year..this some baby back bs. I see the Amish all the time when I go to the country and man it makes wonder what would life be without this bs money society.
