And now I am depressed and constantly live in fear that I will be terminated. I work in Safety for a “ever changing direction” company. I am the only person left from a massive layoff. I oversee safety for 5500 employees and contractors. I was written up because I didn’t answer my phone twice and didn’t call back when they did not leave a message. I also did not follow up with an employee that hurt their thumb. Not broken, not an abrasion…it just hurt. And I didn’t understand fully what an assignment was. I work 12 hours a day and I’m on call 24/7 no exceptions. I have a temp help, but this guy is useless and rather talk about hunting than the work at hand. I do his work for him. His excuse is that “he’s not used to the computer, I like using paper.” I have tried…

This happened years ago. But my experience as being a whistle blower may still be relevant. CEO and his key GM pushed a strategy and investment programme through the Board that substantially disadvantaged the parent company, but somehow failed to point this out to the parent company. I met with the Director of Strategy in the parent company and briefed them as to what was going on. About 3 days later the entire company (except me) was sent an email from the “key” GM telling them not to talk to me as information was being leaked outside the company by me. I found out because a colleague managed to accidentally print a copy of the email and leave it on my desk. Once the immediate shock died away I booked in with a meeting with a employment lawyer. Technically my backup is the gi bill housing checks I get plus an on call job that I still get texts from. I just can’t do this 6 days a week bs anymore and seeing all these old people defeated by life is kinda depressing. I have also found that I’m not one of those people that have jobs they like lol, I’ve hated that every job I’ve had since I left the army.
