That's all I wanted to share. I am not gonna share the video. He mentioned the concept of working exactly the hours that are part of your signed contract is a pandemic that is actually worse than Covid-19. And I can't believe this individual has a platform where millions follow him and reposting his stuff. I saw it because a few social media friends shared his stuff and I did reach out to some to educate them, telling them there is nothing wrong with working the hours that they are supposed to be working. Some of them might need an intervention. Anyway, I am not sure if I can curse in this sub, but… SCREW THAT GUY!
How do you watch hours on your paycheck?
Sorry for the naive question, I'm still understanding the workforce and I want to be sure that I'm getting properly compensated for my work. Is there a method to calculate how much my paycheck should be?
I’m not sure if I’m wrong here?
So I work at a locally owned hardware store. We sell a niche product that I am in charge of ordering, keeping in stock, promoting on social media, etc. while also maintaining the rest of the store. My manager has made it clear he has no intent to give me a raise. I’ve been here nearing a year and get paid the base rate of pay. The same as part time cashiers. Today; he randomly decided to clean out the break room fridge and ended up throwing my lunch away. Am I wrong for being pissed? My coworkers seem to think so.
Realize I may be able to get paid more
So, I work in North Dakota, 10 hour shifts, nights. There are multiple nights I watch random stuff on my phone for hours. But, there is a time window where I am the only maintenance person there, so on call. If I read what I found correctly, ND law states that “North Dakota requires all employees who work 5 hours to be provided with a 30-minute meal break. This applies anytime there are 2 or more employees on duty. If the employee is completely relieved of work duties, then the break can be unpaid.”. Working 2130-0800, with extra coverage 2130-0100 and 0430-0800. I am alone 0100-0430, do I possibly have an argument for getting that extra paid half hour? TIA for anyone who might know.
My work screws us on holiday pay
The place I work at pays 1.5 on most holidays, but they count it separate from regular time. I worked an extra half day on the 4th of July thinking I would get 4 hours holiday, 36 regular, and 4 hours OT, but when I got my check stub it read 40 hours regular pay, 4 hours holiday, no OT. Holiday pay essentially cancelled out my overtime. Sure I got 1.5 for all hours worked over 40, but I would’ve gotten that on any extra day regardless of holiday. I worked overtime on a holiday and I basically didn’t get the holiday bonus. They screwed me out of 4 hours of extra pay, so when they asked me today if I wanted to pick up an extra shift tomorrow for holiday pay I told them no. They were salty about it so I had to explain how last time I…
Quit my old job a couple months back and on the day of my last payslip I was payed 20 pounds despite being owed multiple days of holiday as well as a full days shift. My friend also quite that same month and had the same issue so messaged inquiring about it and getting little response. I then decided to message him asking about it and he said he would contact payroll to see what was up. He didn’t follow up within a week so I messaged again asking if they had responded and he simply hasn’t read the message but I know he actively uses the app that I sent it on. What can I do to get these wages?
