Being treated like shit at work
Guys, basically the company I work for (not gonna say who) reeled me in when I first got hired and everything was sunshine and rainbows at first. I loved it there. We got gift cards a lot. Recently, things have started to make a turn for the worst. My specific position we have so many people trained to do so I barely get hours anymore and we also just hired a shit ton of people and we are continuing to. The manager of my department thinks I am up to no good, when I have done nothing wrong except maybe be a little bit pushy. Working on that and I feel I have improved .I have a friend and coworker working with me. Don’t want to share the specific details but she asked my friend if I was up to no good. I am grateful my friend spoke to me…
Some background about me: I graduated from undergrad a year ago, and I'm taking 1-3 gap years before I attend medical school. Two months ago, I had the opportunity to do a medical assistant externship at a clinic, which I won't name in case it's used to identify me. I'm not sure if the staff uses Reddit. I finished the externship after completing the required hours, and the doctor invited me to work there. I'm not that close to the doctor, but in the beginning of my externship, she emphasized that she's willing to write me a letter of recommendation in the future when I apply to med school. I thought it was really nice of her. As I continued to do my externship, I realized there's something off about her and the rest of the staff. The doctor is an assertive person who tends to talk more than she…
Working 10+ Hours Overtime Every Week
I work as a salaried manager at a restaurant. I work 5 shifts a week, usually 9-11 hours each. I just hit a year at this position. My job position is classified as exempt from overtime pay in my states labor laws. ( The rationale being, some weeks I’ll work less than 40 and some weeks I’ll work over, so it balances out.) However, I am scheduled for 47-48 hours on every schedule; the most irritating aspect is that the closing manager comes in at the same time each day, regardless if we get out at 11pm or 2am. When asked about why this is the case, my GM said it’s so he can “get our hours in.” This is especially infuriating because he is regularly an hour late or more. What can I do about this? I don’t want to get the restaurant in trouble necessarily, and I love…
interesting salary posting
I got fired for being remote…
…by a president of the bird of directors of a nonprofit who doesn’t even live in the state that the organization serves. Oh, irony. Did I mention that her day job is in Human Resources? It takes a special POS.
I got zero benefit from the loan forgiveness but I just saw a girl on Facebook say she was “responsible and paid he debt” even though she had a newborn and “we had one income.” – she said she even could’ve put that extra money towards their kids future or savings or “could’ve bought new tires” —- I was like “wait. Stop. You’re purposely driving with bad tires with a newborn in the car just to pay the loans off? Okay, Ms Responsible” —- seriously, shut the fuck up and putting everyone down because you claim to be “more responsible” but when the details come out you are fucking nuts to drive with bad tires and a newborn in the car. Be mad at the system, not others who got fucked like everyone else.
