I want to let you all know that these story’s inspire me to be better, and focus on the well being of my employee’s. I run a small company and i currently have 5 flexible hiring in the company. They all have a fair wage and good benefits. We released a bonus, to share the good progress with all, with No one left out. Reading all the stories here really is my main power to do better. Im not paying my self, we still building the company, but the long term invest is more important, the key for this succes is good quality employee’s. Thanks for the inspiration!

Currently I have 108.5 hours of absences built up 88 hours vocation and 20.5 hours of flex time. I am an assistant backroom manager at a grocery store in Iowa. Our store director decided that next week well be going from the hours of 10PM to 6AM to 4AM to 12PM which we have 3 employees who just cant do that all part time one is a teacher who wanted some extra money, one has 5 kids who need to get to school, and another just has one kid who needs to get to school so they cant do these hours when we tried explaining this to the store director he tried sayong well they have other options, no they dont overnight is the only thing they can do. I work for a medium-ish sized company, about 100 employees and an HR team of 1.5 people (one person is helping the HR director sometimes). Last year was the most profitable year of record in the entire company's history since the business opened back in the 1930s. We did roughly 4x as much business in 2021 as we did in 2020 (COVID restrictions were a factor in that contrast in business, but not to that 4x level) and millions of dollars have been made as a result. While I technically got a raise, it was 6.2% while inflation was crossing the line from 7% to 8% back in April. I say all this for context. I don’t know if this has been said before, but a co worker of mine suggested that we petition for raising the minimum wage to $17.76/hr, call it ‘Patriot Pay’ and see who struggles to vote against it.

My employer has said everybody must end the year with no more than 5 days of accrued vacation. so if you have 15 days now, you need to take 10 before the end of the year. I think there must be some tax/legal reason for this. I don't think they particularly care but they're just listening to the accountants. Why is this?

For reference this in Montréal, Québec, Canada. The company is one of Canada's Largest Companies as well. I've been working at this place for a total of 5 years now and up until today I've been given a schedule that works around my school schedule. I'm working part-time of 24 hours a week, however on my letter of employment it states 40h full time (I don't know why). Recently my manager has said that they would no longer be accommodating my school schedule unless I take an extra shift. This extra shift falls on a day that I have classes and they are 100% aware, as I've handed my schedule to them when asked, on time. Last week, I set up an interview with a local Subway. I got reminders a couple days before, and on the day of. I went in. The manager was not there. Said she’d be back on Monday, and to leave my contact information. Was not contacted. So I applied to another Subway and went to set up an interview. No time slots were left. I’m still getting texts telling me to set up an interview. Every time I’ve checked there are still no time slots. So I applied to yet another Subway. Got to set up the interview. Again, reminders, including today. Went in. Told them I was there for an interview, and they said they weren’t hiring. I mentioned I set up an interview online. Said they weren’t hiring right now. Despite them having a flyer on the door saying “now hiring!” I am completely done with this, never…

I’m leaving my retail job (Publix) because I can’t afford my city anymore and thus have to leave the area and move in with my parents for a bit, until I find a cheaper place and a better job. My last day is tomorrow and everyone said they were sad to see me go, even my assistant manager was like “you really need to leave?” I work customer service there and it just doesn’t pay the bills. I need to work a job that pays more and gives overtime, etc. Publix doesn’t do that! This is why when they say people are quitting, it’s reasons like this. Wages!
