Switching Departments
I am a part-time CSR for a small but growing insurance agency and have planned to switch departments to another department. The main reason I want to switch is due to the manager, she makes the job unbearable and I no longer feel comfortable there. Thus, I spoke to HR around the middle of SEPT about being able to transfer and the current manager was upset I wanted to leave. After some time she finally calmed down and decided to continue with the transfer and gave me the final date of OCT 31st. At first, I was not happy with the given date because I wanted to leave as soon as possible, but ultimately I decided to wait it out. Fast forwarding to today we are just 2 weeks away from the end of OCT and I have received the worst news that the CEO does not want me…
Anyone know the history of the development, use and long term effects of this tactic?
Begging for me to work overtime
So my boss and the shift lead on my days off has texted and called me asking me to help them so much I finally stopped answering and blocked them all. Today I woke up to a call from the day shift operator of my machine asking me if I could come in tonight. Wtf will it take to send the message I’ll do overtime when I want the extra money not when they want me too. Short of blocking 249 employees I’m not sure I have options left if they are having non management text me now
I just had my one-year review with my supervisor and she basically told me I need to step it up and produce more copy more quickly. All the tasks I have are pretty rote. There are some more interesting projects possible to do but only if I do my existing work faster so I have the time to do them. Seems a little shady and also I just felt like shit after this meeting with her. She didn't say anything positive about me or my work and was just like “let's figure out how to get more out of you.” Also this is such a low pay rate. I am 35 years old with a degree in journalism and over 10 years experience writing journalism and copywriting, including for large national publications. I feel like I could find a part-time job that will even pay me more total monthly than…
Pizza vs half a day
A little background: I work for a large lending company. We make money hand over fist. I am the manager of a fairly large department. (Probably THE largest). We have a corporate office (where I work) and a bunch of offices in the field across the country. The CEO rolls out employee appreciation week, but only for the branches. I rightfully ask that we do something in the corporate office. I am told “Yes, go find out what people want.” After speaking with a bunch of people the most popular idea was a half day. I take it to the decision makers and am told, verbatim: “Just get them some pizzas. But NOT ALOT!”. Wow.
