I'm a truck driver, and I like driving trucks. Shit is fun. Im a flatbedder which means I have an open deck trailer where I have to chain and or strap my cargo. I’m not sure where else to post this so I’ll apologise in advance if this is the wrong place. I’ve recently started a new job and have now been there for a few weeks, a lot of the people there are younger than me (17-18 and I’m 21). Some of the people are nice but others I do not mingle with so well but that’s work for you. I was on my lunch break and I walked into the cafeteria, all of my coworkers including my manager who is in his 30’s were gathered around a big table. I had my headphones in and was eating my food because I wanted to zone out for awhile. This is an add on to the post I made about stealing tips. It’s the same owner, just weirder bullshit. During my interview there was some bizarre mention that if I had to miss work and couldn’t find coverage then the restaurant would have to close. Any employee who causes a closure has a chance to be held liable for lost profits based on past week’s sales. The terms to cause this deduction are incredibly confusing and the owner blew past all of this at lightning speeds, but it seemed to boil down to you get deducted if it happens too often or the boss doesn’t believe your excuse. The owner claimed at the time that this wasn’t likely to be an issue, but after that meltdown about me looking at tips this seems worse.

I just realized that capitalism is a pyramid scheme. You have the the little guys at the bottom churning out the grunt work for the big guys on top to make dividends off of the collective labor. No wonder is going to shit. If you wouldn't expect someone at the top of the pyramid to give two shits about the guys holding them up at the base then we are ignorant to think that capitalist tycoons will ever care about their employees. All they want is to convince as many ppl as possible to join their pyramid. And since the worker bees are starting to demand more (as we should) they are adding pressure to the perverbial boot on the necks of the civilians, by taking women's rights and forcing births to keep ppl poor and desperate enough to volunteer for their sweat shops and warehouses. I'm shocked that I've been blind to it for so long. Long story short, myself and a few other employees (there isn't many of us, it's a small business) have noticed our clock in/out times being altered without prior knowledge or consent. Usually, it seems to be done in a way that “rounds” your hours. For example, my timsheet will show 40.00 hours, which is near impossible due to the few minutes you arrive early or late, or the 10-15 minutes you usually stay after. What do I do?
