The true story of Thanksgiving? The Wampanoag people saved the Plymouth Settlement from total starvation. Massasoit, the Sachem of the Wampanoag, brokered peace deals and signed a peace treaty in 1621. In the coming years, more and more English settlers came in, taking what they wanted and turning the indigenous peoples into second-class citizens, killing hundreds of indigenous men, women, and children along the way. When Massasoit's son Metacom (English name King Phillip) became Sachem and began resisting this oppression, it eventually led to King Phillips's War. Metacom was killed and dismembered, and his body parts were sent to different English towns as trophies. Metacom's head was put on a pike and placed in Plymouth while his 9-year-old son was imprisoned and sold into slavery in the West Indies. That is the thanks we gave them.PBS' American Experience produced We Shall Remain, a four-part docuseries on the suffering that American…

Fell at work. Company being shady
I work in a grocery store. We were processing a truck. My coworkers knocked a box down & didn’t pick it up. I was carrying something & came around the corner of our counter & tripped on the box. I made a report even though I didn’t think it was a big deal. My hip hurts now when I bend down, put weight on it, or squat. I fell on the side of my leg. Corporate was there today. They asked about what happened. My boss had this little paper & it asked if I had seeped medical attention yet. She told me if I said no that they wouldn’t cover me. So I asked if I should go now just in case She looks at me & says “well I don’t want you to go now, we need you here” and I just kind of looked at her. She…
I’m leaving this sub.
I get that people are tired of poor conditions, shitty bosses, difficult clients, family /work balance. I get that people want to join unions. I get that some other want to leave unions. But encouraging people to steal money, items or time is definitely not something that will help solve the corporate greed issue. This sub has turned in something really wrong. Wish you all the best.
I am very new in this company, which is an MNE not a small local business. All seemed fine until senior management (I assume) decided to install motion sensors for the lights of all publicly available WCs a few days ago. The sensors have an automatic timer which turns the lights off exactly 3 minutes after being triggered. The ridiculous part is they only trigger from the main bathroom hall and NOT from inside the stalls. This means if for whatever reason you need to use the toilet for more than 3 mins, you have to exit the stall or wait for someone to walk in… Personally, I have IBS-C which means I have to use the bathroom for more than 10-15 minutes on a daily basis, sometimes even more than once. This means I have to do my business in the dark like a caveman or use my phone’s…
$1400 Settlement? Is that good enough?

Screw this company
Man fuck Kibsons. These guys are verbally abusive narcisstic idiots who run a joke of a company that is only successful because they have money to dump into their losses. If you ever have the misfortune of being contacted them. Do yourself a favor and don’t respond because it’s a whirlpool of hell that’s awaiting you. I just cried in the washroom after being publicly embarrassed and shouted at by the owner for just doing work that was asked of me from the top management. Throwaway account because they are very petty
