This is more of a rant than anything, as I've gone to corperate twice and will probably go back to them again. A little context, I work at a gas station owned by a food store. I've worked there for 2 years, and this will be my 7th year working in retail. Jobs are slim where I'm from, and I'm not physically able to do all of them, however I do this job well and have been told so. Within my first 6 months of working here, I got employee of the month and was offered a promotion to manager. I agreed but the store manager kept putting it off, and putting it off, hiring a few others in my place. I thought nothing of it, it's happened before at previous jobs, and I'd only been there a year. Cut to a few months later and the head of the…

Reported manager to HR.
Finally reported my toxic manager to HR. He is constantly targeting me and trying to humiliate me in front of staff although I’m like a top performer. Has anyone else been a victim to a bullying situation by their manager ? I literally have no idea what his deal is and what provoked his horrible berating behavior towards me. My teammates support the decision and agree that he’s not a good for for the team I told my HR manager that it took a lot for me to speak up (previously my manager has been reported by other teammates about the same issue because they notice the behavior as well). I’m afraid that them notifying him of this is going to make his treatment towards me worse. I’m scared and I usually love my job, but he’s just such a bully and I hate sharing my thoughts in team meetings…
I know some countries and even US companies are doing it or considering it, but as a young worker, i would love to have an extra day off a week, even if it meant longer workdays. I do state work at the moment, so i guess i would probably see it first if its enacted through state or federal government, but i cant see how something thats so beneficial for most companies productivity and positivity on workers parts isnt active already.
Just like what the title says. I work for a nonprofit that is a trade group for a large network of organizations. We are having our upcoming lobby day this spring, and sent out the “message from our president” to encourage people to come to the event. Only the email title included “virtual” lobby day, when the event is taking place in person. Our president emailed me and the rest of department staff being like, “wtf” I took a look at what happened in Constant Contact – I personally didn't have anything to do with sending it out, however the stupid email draft went through many chains of command (including mine, boss's etc) and it was missed. I'm already an anxious mess because we're about to do some restructuring after a member of department leadership retires, and I'm panicking that this might just be the cherry on top to clean…
What tells you that it’s a good place to work? What’s a blatant warning sign to stay clear?
legality question- work meeting today
Today in a work meeting/group trivia type competition activity, the person in management leading the meeting demanded that we use our personal cell phones to email in our answers to them at their work email address using our personal email addresses. Thankfully I had left my phone in my office. They even pressured us those of us without our phones to walk all the way back to our offices to bring back our phones so we could use them, but I stayed put along with everyone else who didn't have theirs, so then we all got chastised for not having our phones on us to participate, even though there had been no directive to bring our phones ahead of time. Which is ironic because at other times during work we're not supposed to use our phones. I found it really unsettling that they wanted us to use our personal devices…
So, I’ve been working for a wholesale distributor of HVAC Equipment & supplies since 2019, making $16 at hire while having to travel an hr out of my way at times since the branch I was hired to be at wasn’t making enough revenue. (I got a raise to $17.50 / hr once a warehouse guy got hired) Meanwhile I had learned to do nearly everything from handling customers, doing night deposits, LTL shipping/ receiving & the like. So the time finally came for an opportunity to become manager since my last boss took a position at a larger branch. I applied for the job back in June / July of last year and had to essentially do my job as the counter guy, the manager and do half of the warehouse guy’s job (since he has an attitude) up until today when I found out that they decided to…
Does anybody have any experience with this format? I applied about two weeks ago and haven’t received an actual call, just an automated email to this thing. What are your thoughts on this format as opposed to a screening call? It took 45 minutes. No personality test yet. Fingers crossed.
