Honestly how does employment work in Montana?

I mean as it’s the only non at will state do they sign contracts and have to renew the contract every time? How would someone quit or find a new job and on the flip side how does getting fired work. I’ve always been curious to how it works. (Also explain it to me like I’m 5)

What’s the point of working if we’ll die?

The title says it all. I’ve been working for about a month now since finishing undergrad. And then that got me thinking: we’re on this planet for a limited amount of time. We should soak up all of life’s riches. Eat good food, laugh with our friends and family, travel, love, etc. But we’re bound to work with the threat of starvation and homelessness if we don’t work. And now we find ourselves living through war, a terrible economy, a climate crisis and the remnants of a global pandemic. The only people whose lives have improvised are those of the rich and the oligarchs while politicians do no…

I’m getting a surgery and I’m looking forward to it

So like the title says, I'm getting surgery. I'll have 6 weeks off for recovery. I'm honestly looking forward to the time away from my job. As a member of the working poor I've never taken a real vacation and probably never will. This will probably be as close as I get to a “vacation.” My claim for short-term disability has already been approved. It's only 60% of my regular pay which isn't much, but it's something. I'm not expecting to be TOO miserable through recovery so I'm going to make the best of this time away. Video games, art projects, and cat. I'm sorta bummed I won't really be able to do anything crazy with this time but at least I won't be at my soul crushing job.

Proposing 4-day/wk to managers

Need advice. I have the opportunity to advocate for a 4-day work week and need help coming up with my opening line. I have my facts and how it uniquely benefits our company. I just want to make sure the first thing I say gets them on my side instead of putting them on the defense. Thanks for the help.
