Before you just ask me to quit, let me contextualise. I work as a graphic designer in a very small agency with two other people — one other designer, and an admin assistant/intern who doesn’t really do any design. All of us multitask to various degrees while we work. We all have headphones in and listen to music. Sometimes I listen to YouTube internet mystery videos instead of music, and have the video as a little picture-in-picture pop out while I work. I have never turned anything in late to my boss, and am often just sitting around waiting for client responses or for my boss to make executive decisions on where projects can go. The intern is a little more bold about it and watches Netflix on half her screen, but then again she barely has anything to do. I can’t speak for either of my colleagues but I…

Hello everyone, I have recently(in December) joined a new company. I work in Marketing for a big beauty brand. My manager who is legally my mentor as I have a study/work contract. She has complete psychotic tendencies and is as horrible as she gets. 1 – micro management She wants me to send my emails to her and she want to approve them. She had a look at my notes during meetings and asked me many times to write notes like her on a notebook than on my computer which I prefer. She had asked me to put a STAR on one of the ppt slides and she changed the position of the star from the left side if the slide to the right. 2 – Rude My manager has the tendency to always keep a smile on her face and still utter absolute rude shit. She doesn’t ask me…
I’ve played everything close to the chest the last 5 years. I chose difficult professions that were essential and riddled with bullshit that allowed me to make more money due to said bullshit. Corrections, private security, explosive detection teams etc. I never made more than 60k, I don’t have gross amounts of debt and yet I still struggle. My husband and I struggle together despite our frugal ways and “well paying” jobs. Our shitty apartment complex raises our rent by 104$… for no reason. It’s still the cheapest place to live here and no upgrades have been done, ever. I finally had the epiphany to start tattooing again. One, it’s not as soul crushing as a 9-5 and I determine the pricing. The only reason I stopped is because I was being harassed at my last shop in the most insane kind of way. Main artist would play animal torture…
Sometimes customers are just miserable people. I work as a gas station attendant between 5 and 10 pm as a closer and I spend a lot of time on my pad in the cold weather just because more gas spills and jumps happen to need to occur around this time for some reason. Over the last two weeks I’ve had to help 7 cars be pushed off my pad away from pumps so they could be jumped, and I’ve had to clean 5 fuel spills because customers are sitting in their car and not paying attention because they want to stay warm. Anyways, at the start of my previous shift I was called a racist by a man that needed his car jumped. He asked another customer to be jumped, and I said, “Hello sir! You can definitely jump your car, but first we need to push your car off…
Why Is HR work undesirable?
I have recently seen a lot of HR jobs available – good pay, benefits, remote options and minimal training/ certification required. I have herd that “HR is a prison” and that is why no one wants to be in these roles. I have no experience with these roles but I’m just curious why HR is so bad? If you work a minimum wage job and could transfer to a HR position for substantially more pay without getting any more certification is it worth it?
then they said we should be ready for it because giving a lower rating decreases their earning potential.
