They’re now requiring me to record myself doing a PA announcement which promises misleading deals to customers. I will NOT do this, even if it means quitting. What do I say to them, be it quitting or communicating that I refuse to dip this low?

so i just moved from one franchise location to another. it’s a small restaurant chain in florida and i am currently working as a server/cashier. i had to take a server test at my previous location before they gave me any of the non-cash tips i earned. it’s a menu test that requires i memorize essentially every menu item — every ingredient, every name, every variant, etc. even ones that weren’t on the menu, but fine. i get it. i worked about a month or two there before earning any tips — i wasn’t aware that i had to take the test, otherwise i wouldn’t have done any serving work for them (i was just a cashier there) but apparently they DID tell me that i had to. so it was my fault. like i said i’ve been moved to a new location during the slow season and after asking…

Am I doing something wrong?
So some of you might remember my posts about the shitty work conditions I was in at the the big blue. Verbal abuse, gaslighting, sexual harassment, manipulation you name it. How I said I was quitting because I was going to move away across the country. Long story short that move didn’t happen. I’m homeless and I’ve been looking for a job since January. Almost ten years of retail experience and I’ve had more interviews at this point in my life than ever before but I always get rejected afterward. Even by the big name red bullseye. Each interview I (at least thought I did) got along really well with the interviewer only to get ghosted when they said they’d call me on a certain day and if I called, the person I needed to speak to was supposedly never available. My references are all ex bosses who adored me…

I don’t know what to do. Additionally I know my days here are numbered and so after my write up, I submitted a bunch of PTO requests. Normally my manager would approve these, however she isn’t and says she is disappointed I submitted pto after the write up. My company doesn’t pay pto out after firing someone, so I’d like to use it up. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am already looking for other jobs

About an hour later the senior recruiter or whatever emails me personally to explain. Posted below is the conversation we’ve had so far. Recruiter – “I wanted to follow up with why we have to keep client confidential. We get paid to find the right fit and if we advertised the company, we would just be advertising for them and not be able to protect our interest. I just saw that post about Washington State increasing teacher salaries and custodial workers hourly wages and just started crying Just the bare minimum is that moving. But I also cried because it’s so goddamn tiresome to know how inequitable everything is. How exploitative. How mean and cruel and unnecessary all the pain the ruling class causes is. It’s overwhelming sometimes. You want to believe in the better angels of the world but the state of things makes it so hard. How do you deal with it when those feelings hit you?
