Fairness has the potential to be a fundamental part of a restaurant’s business plan. Restaurants that have eliminated tipping and committed to a living wage for employees have reluctantly admitted that the sticker shock of higher menu prices, adjusted to fairly pay employees, makes customers balk. Sometimes, it’s enough to make them revert to a tipped system. But what upset customers are forgetting is that most of us have always been underpaying for our dinners out. The public’s perception

I got an email from my boss asking me to update my resume to include my current position so it can be added to my employee file. I've been here three years and they should have my resume from when I applied three years ago. Why am I being asked to update my resume for my current employer? This is bizarre right? Am I about to be fired or something?
Hello, I work in a restaurant in Quebec where the owners also work both as a server and the chef. We use a tip pool system, where the tips are split 50/50 between the front and back and then divided between each person. When the owners work, they are included in the tip pool for the hours they worked. Is this legal? Struggling to find answers online. TIA 🙂
So, as the headline says, I have this crazy idea where I want to ask for a raise. My normal way of getting more money was job hopping but in this area there is nobody to hop too without taking a pay hit. I’m looking for advice in how about to ask and what I should bring and a reasonable amount to ask for. I was going to try and collect a bunch of data about my performance but after speaking with HR, it seems either not available or something they don’t track. Would you all be able to give me some tips, useful advice? I would greatly appreciate it
very interesting observation
My job requires me to use annual leave days if I am off work sick. This causes employees to be more sick with stress about having to use holidays AND it also encourages employees to go into work poorly. The CEO enforced this rule because he doesn’t trust where employees are from previous times when past employees have lied about where they have been. I work at a school in London. Is this legal? Help please x
How do I provide proof to the unemployment office for this? I live in Texas. I have been in contact with the companies HR department since the end of January about these issues. HR has told me to be patient, they even visited in person twice about these issues, but after the visits the treatment got louder and noticable to other staff. He even talked about how worthless he thinks I am to other employees behind my back. HR has now ghosted me and I quit due to all of this. I have been lucky enough to have never needed to file for unemployment before, I am not sure how the process works or what the timeline is.
No TP tomorrow I guess
So I got laid off in December. I'll be honest, I probably got laid off because of my performance, but divorce and shit, whatever. I'm a software engineer. Not a big deal to get a new job. So I did. First offer was two weeks after layoff and was $7k more than the job I just lost. Perfect, let's go. A week into that, another job calls and offers me life changing money and free healthcare. Fuck yeah. So I do the right thing. Do the right thing. I tell company one I got company two job and rescind my acceptance before I even start working. This puts me at no income between Dec 15th and Feb 15th, basically. That put child support (divorce), mortgage, bills, etc behind. I'm allowed overtime, so I'm able to catch up. I'm in the suck right now. I'll be fine. But tomorrow, I'm going…
