I was told to come back to the office 3 times/week. I currently work WFH all the time

So that's it. I have ADHD, problems with my stomach and I study part time. My employer knew about it from the start (my study, not my ADHD or stomach) and I told that I am mainly looking for a job that would allow me to combine my study and work. And now this. Fantastic. I cried for one hour. Anyone hiring? I work in accounting

Company denied my request for hybrid work

Bit of a rant… My husband and I just bought a house and finished moving in this weekend. I lived and still work in a city and now we moved to one of the towns outside the city. My job is in an office, it can be done 95-100% remotely. So I don't have my license yet, I'm working on it, I have a permit, I am signed up for more lessons. I use public transport or walk. Well, my new suburban paradise is a 45 min walk from public transport. It's a 12 min car ride from work, but about 2 hours with bus and walking. My office (small around 40 ppl) is run by old fashioned folks, still I have 2 coworkers who moved out of state and are fully remote, one coworker who lives an hour away who is fully remote and 3 coworkers with hybrid schedules.…

I feel horrible for not wanting to work

At 17 years old I started work and I'm still figuring things out. Now I'm in nursing school one year till I finish and need money to pay for it. I keep finding job's I start to dislike (they either pay poorly or have a awful work hours). Now I'm working at Mcdonald because I hear it's okay and start to dislike it. Please someone tell me how to live like this, I can't imagine my life going in this direction for another 40 years! My parents tell me I ask for too much because they stuck to their job for 20 years (my mother still gets paid the same and my father advanced from under minimum wage to a little over it) Any advice is welcome…

Boss didn’t come through on promised raise.

Well here we are. I started a moving job about 6-7 months ago. To give some backstory I'm a CDL A driver with now, all qualifications (tanker hazmat, doubles triples and no manual restriction). I left my previous job for this one due the boss being an idiot. When I first started here I was told I would get my pay raise after 90 days to 33$ from 30$. And get my sign on bonus of 1400$. Sign on was shit but whatever. Well 90 days comes and goes along with the manager who hired me. Low and behold it turns out the previous manager doesn't write any of that down. Nor does he remember a sign on bonus. But I still had the job posting stating the sign on at least. I ended up having a pretty heated conversation with the new manager. Well he ended up giving me…

HR said I didn’t pass the interview because “I was to good to be true”

This is my first time posting here and I just wanted to vent a bit about how absurd some of the things you have to go through to get a job are. I graduated last year and since then I've been trying to get an office job to start my career but I've been struggling a bit. Finally, in February a friend who works in recruitment for a company saw that there was an opening for an entry-level job that could work for me so he sent me a referral. I did all of the initial tests (math, logic, English, and such) and passed. After that, while I was preparing for the first interview I decided to ask another friend, who went through the same process, about how he prepared for it. He wasn't much help and just said that I should google what to do, so I…

What’s wrong with management?

so I basically work as a software engineer and everyone if not most people in my company are quitting or taking their yearly vacation (im guessing to find a new job) because the management thinks everyone should return to office to be more social and productive like we basically we can do work at home and productivity rates are so high that most of not us all got our targeted bonus as well which is a rare occurrence. I think management just likes to mess every good thing up.

Corporations “caring” about mental health of their workers

I really hate the trend of corporations going in hard for mental health for the express purpose of increasing worker productivity. Like at first you think, “oh that's nice, supporting workers and helping them deal with stress,” and then you start to notice this insidious idea popping up all throughout the “mental health resources” that the only reason you should try to improve your mental health or take breaks or be compassion toward yourself is to get you back to work faster.

Will there be a war between the working class and 1%?

Surely people would want to fight for better wages, better working conditions, and the opportunity to not live a life in constant fear of not having the monetary means to support one’s self? Strikes are popping up across a variety of career fields, depression is at an all time high, and the resentment towards the 1% hoarding their excessive wealth continues to grow and grow. What will people do when they become desperate enough? Will there be revolution? I was pondering this before I went to bed last night.

After cutting my hours, I called in a day the day they needed me the most lol.

Used to work 6 days at this place. My days were decreased to 3 days after having a situation with a coworker. After an unfair suspension, they started cutting my hours little by little. Today I called and surprisingly the one who picked the phone was the manager guy who does the schedule. (I assume he was there this time to cover another person who called in.) I called and told him I cannot come, not feeling well and he was so shocked saying they don't have anyone else today except me and the other person. And this is a counter job so it needs at least 2 people. He was trying to convince me if I can get a painkiller or something and come later lol. It was funny and sounded mad also.

What is the point of reference letters?

Nobody will ask for a reference letter from someone that will provide negative feedback References are hardly ever validated Waste of time and an unnecessary ask of others
