I was recently denied pto time after being with a company for a year. I put in my 2 weeks notice and was told please wait and let's discuss this when the big boss gets back from their vacation. Like u serious š¤£. Bye

I finally snapped
I'm currently working at a specialty sporting goods store, at minimum wage for the past three years. Last fall, I relocated for school, but I come back during my winter break and summer breaks (most places don't want to train and hire someone to be there for a limited amount of time). Up until recently, it was going okay. Also to put into consideration I am a queer person of colour in an industry where the overwhelming majority seem to be hyper-privileged white women. As one can imagine, I'm one of two non-white people who work at this set of franchises. 1) I recently found out that two of my coworkers (with less seniority of at least a year)are getting paid more than me (50 cents an hour above min wage) for no real legit reason. 2) Got invited to a work function, but coworkers left within 30-45 minutes of…
I work on team of 10 in a fast paced, emotionally demanding field that deals with the public. We meet people when they are at their worst. Iām the second most senior person with 8 years. Most senior staff is around 25 year mark and riding it out until retirement benefits. In my time on the team- ENTIRE staff has turned over 3 times and weāre on 6th supervisor. Just after Covid most of team quit within 5 months and we ran short staffed for a year before hiring new staff. When we hired, we picked up a āMean Girlā (MG) MG has made life a living hell with gossip, back biting, passive aggressive and toxic behavior. Thereās a team of women I regularly have to interact with (they are rude, catty and abrasive) and when MG started they all became friends. Once MG entered the picture- the group stopped…
Not only did my company implement this, I've noticed this trend with several large companies from different fields. Some Tech, some finance, some real estate/sales. It's across the board. What is the logic behind this? Are they getting some sort of subsidy or incentive by requiring RTO 3 days a week? Or are they trying to get people to quit without having to pay severance? Or are they actually trying to discourage job hopping/quiting by making it a requirement almost everywhere? Because it's definitely less productive then just working from home. I don't understand why WFH became a problem overnight.
Iām not sure if this is the right sub, sorry if itās not. Iām hoping someone has some advice on how to not dread, and be able to brush off the scolding my team lead is going to give me when I get back to work again. I know this is coming because when I had to call in sick for my shift tonight, he told me on our next shift heāll need to āhave a chatā with me about my āattendance issuesā. I donāt believe I have attendance issues, being Iāve only called in 3-4 times in the 3 months Iāve been there. Aside from this, about 2 weeks ago I had a sit-down with my team lead and the big boss for a performance review. And it was all overwhelmingly positive. But Iām just a very self critical person, so Iām thinking myself to death. Any tips would…
Your manager sends you an unannounced Zoom meeting invite at 8:30 PM on Sunday for 8:30 AM on Monday. Theyāre returning from a 3 week vacation. You were off on Friday. Do you show up? Edit: my hours are 9-5 M-F, visible in my calendar. I have no expectation to verify or reply to emails on the weekend.
Iāve had a few job interviews where at the end the interviewer literally gives a spiel about how they know how annoying it is to not get a call back, so they will still call even if I donāt get the job. And then I never hear from them again. One of them even told me they would call me at 5pm that day to let me know. They never did.
Scheduled me when I didnāt agree.
I work at a big corporate Italian resturant. Thursday night, the schedule comes out. Friday they asked me if I could work the following Friday night. I told them only if I had Saturday night off, but otherwise no, because then Iād be three doubles in a row and thats too much for me, especially because I live an hour away. (Closest town with job oppurtunies as I live in the middle of nowhere basically). Today I checked me schedule again, and they changed it. 3 doubles in a row. Iām saying something tomorrow, but it blows my mind they would change my schedule without asking me, and after I told them Iām not down for three doubles in a row. My work week is Thursday-Monday, two doubles usually. & they always want me to work monday nights which Iām unavaliable. & want me to work Wednesday nights as well.…
So just as the title says, I have been casually at times, seriously at times been looking for a new job since last year june/july. Have had quite a few first time interviews and one or two that went to the next stage. Thought that it might just be a harsh job market right now, or that I was too picky. Who knows, maybe the last one is still true but now my coworker got two job offers within one month of looking and I feel broken. One of the big things I just keep feeling and thinking right now is “what is wrong with me?” and it just sucks. I so wish there was more transparency for people looking for jobs, or guidance from the recruiters or what not. I just feel disregarded and unimportant and it just really sucks. I feel so lost in the job searching.
