Do Burger King employees have rights?

Me quitting my job ending up costing my old boss hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I quit my old job 2 weeks ago (for a better work environment, better commute, and better pay) without notice because they have fired several people a week into their 2 week notice. I ran into a former co-worker and apparently me quitting hurt them bad enough that other people have heard of the financial loss they incured. They had me booked several months out for projects that they believed I would be doing, and the fact that they have problems hiring people in my position because they refuse to hire people at a higher rate than their competitors, they indeed might be fucked. From forcing me to take a 40% pay cut because they replaced my whole department with contractors, to dangling a certification for 6 months with BS training in front of me I'm glad they are taking a hit.

I don’t know what I’m being paid (venting)

At my job, we have evaluation meetings that happen towards the end of each fiscal year. We discuss job performance and learn about our new wage that takes effect at the beginning of the fiscal year. Last year, evaluation meetings were in mid-May. This year, evaluation meetings were a little delayed for whatever reason, and mine was set to be mid-June. Evaluation meetings were delayed yet again because a grant opportunity came up and my boss prioritized applying for this grant. In her email, she stated this would not affect the start date of raises (7/5). My evaluation meeting was rescheduled to last Friday (6/30), the last possible day to meet before the new fiscal year. Multiple other employees also had their evaluations scheduled for that day. The office ended up being closed due to an unexpected power outage. So, when I come back to the office on 7/5 (we're…

What happened three years ago, still matters.

I was told by my boss that he had to do evals on his team. I don't know all the details, but things like having a heart attack still count on the eval. That's cold. We both think HR is looking for any excuse to trim the fat. Even though that guy that had the heart attack, hasn't missed a day in 3 years since.

Disclosed a past history that is state sealed due to being granted YOA (Youth Offender Status)during a fingerprinting investigation background check.

I recently submitted to an fingerprinting background check for a job that I been on for nearly a year. Some how they forgot to conduct it when they offered the job to me. I was very conflicted when doing the fingerprinting because I did not know whether I should or shouldn’t disclose because it was 30yrs ago while I was a teenager and I was granted YOA status. So I decided to disclose based off my duties as a licensed Social Worker. Well, I received a letter from HR informing me that since I said yes to having a criminal history, I needed to submit documents and a corresponding letter statement to what happen. Keep in mind the offense did not involve children, elderly, disabled persons or any heinous crimes. I am currently freaking out because I disclosed at my own free will and now I feel guilty for doing…

I have an untreatable brain growth, and at age 37, I have some reflections.

Fucking hell, I wasted my 20s doing whatever jobs that I ended up in until earning a master’s degree at 28 only to waste a few more years as a sellout careerist. That whole youth period which I should have been enjoying hard were the last good years, and I had no idea as they passed me by from one shift to the next or in the short time between shifts. I have always known that nature can sneak up and ruin you for no reason even if you “live right” like I do with no alcohol or drugs, a healthy diet, daily exercise, and adequate sleep, but as with every other victim of nature, I really did think that it was not going to happen to me because my temperance must be worth something, right? It was not. I am no longer working a “real job” as I no…

Thought I found my next place of employment. Then I saw their PTO policy…

In short, there’s virtually no PTO. At maximum, you get 3 days and they’re accrued at 1 day every 4-5 months. There’s no vacation time until after 1 year and it’s only 5 days. After already agreeing to work OT with a varying schedule, what more do they want from someone?
