Accidentally caused a work dispute, help

Been working as a waitress for a month now and a few days ago our manager sends us a message saying from now on whenever we clock in he will correct the starting time to for example 9 am instead of 8:45 am like the shift is originally scheduled for. I was not happy with this because we have coworkers that came in 20 – 30 minutes earlier. They were not asked to come but we are often busy so extra help is not bad. I too have came in 10-15 mins earlier every day. I asked the older coworker to take it up with the manager and they concluded its not up to them but the company that hired us. Like a third party. I obviously called the third party company and asked if this is really true because in my first paycheck the earlier clock ins were accounted…

Help with question

So 02/02/2023 I was called into office and was told that I am being suspended for 3 days and that to come back in 3 days . So on 02/07/2023 I Went back in and they had all my belonging and last pay check and was told I was being terminated , so afterwards on MyADP mobile app online to check my status it says my termination date was 02/02/2023 , so does that mean that they lied to me on 02/02/2023 saying that I wasn’t being fired and it was only “Suspension for 3 days “ . But than handed me me paper saying I was terminated on 02/07/2023 . I just want to know if theirs anything wrong with that which I believe there is , I just don’t know what it’s called And they told EDD I was terminated for attendance but that what they told me…

What do we think of The Pursuit of Happyness?

I watched this movie recently and I thought it was a sobering experience. I hope I never have to go through what Will Smith's character goes through in this film. The way this movie depicts extreme poverty is brutally honest and it made me feel grateful for what I have. However, I think this movie believes in the goodness of work to an extent that I just don't agree with. One review on wikipedia called it “the same old bootstraps story” and I totally see that. Will Smith works a 6 month unpaid internship, competing with other interns to become a stockbroker. He can only work 6 hours a day whereas the other interns work a full 9. Will Smith has voice over where he says that he increases his productivity by not drinking any water and not going to the bathroom, and I just don't think that part has…

Dogged a bullet.

Had applied to a dessert shop opening it's first ever US location from Canada. Honestly between the time I applied and got called for an interview, I forgot about it and his French Canadian accent was so thick I couldn't understand a damn word. Arrived 20 minutes late (my fault, GPS took the long way and had to stop for gas), and they were more than accommodating since they were waiting around for a call from corporate (it happened right when I walked through the door). His partner goes through the spiel explaining the menu and how customers order. I left feeling good but never got a call back! Honestly the location was a fail from the start. Was supposed to open fall 2019, got pushed to March 2020, then the pandemic pushed them to fall/winter 2020. They were only open about a year / year and a half before…

How does everyone feel about tipping culture?

Should companies be able to rely on the generosity of its customers to pay employees a living wage instead of eliminating tipping and just paying a fair wage? I had an argument with my wife because I didn't tip a bud tender at a dispensary for a $6 product. Let me start off by saying I will happily tip if someone has given me good service. In my opinion, people don't deserve tips for doing the absolute bare minimum. Walking 3 feet to the left and grabbing a joint doesn't mean I should give you 20% of the product cost. Imagine this: You have 1 bud tender and 2 customers. 1 customer buys a $10 bong, the bud tender walks 3 steps to get it, then takes 30 seconds ringing it up Another customer buys a $1,0000 bong, the bud tender walks the same 3 steps to get it, then…
