As many here can guess for the reason, a new property owner bought out a few of the buildings the stores leased. Naturally to recoup his costs quicker the rents were raised. Now 8 stores have left the market area, meaning we are slowly approaching 25% vacancy rate. I am genuinely curious who will replace these stores since the rates are now way to high. Similarly, we have a converted freight yard that is a converted food court losing restaurant since their rents went up as well. Honestly, the investment and property investment needs to be heavily regulated and limited through tiered taxes.

Have a few friends get laid off from Disney. Very high up. Very well paid. Also in positions that cannot be replaced. They were given 30 day severances. I’ve tried to ask them so many times why can’t all the 10s of 1000s being laid off by them band together in class action suit to sue them as they’re making 100s and 100s of billions in profit. They told me it’s impossible to sue them. Got me so bummed over this holiday week. Makes no sense why no govt entity especially in California can’t take them to court. Ugh I hate it here.

Title says everything. I put in my resignation and after next Friday I will not be working. My job was awesome – paid well at $108k + mileage, and I loved my boss. The problem was the drive was starting to physically tire me out…at MINIMUM I would drive an hour and a half to work everyday and this has been going on for 4+ years. My wife and I have a son now too which has drastically complicated things, and I owe it to him to be more present. After several long discussions with my wife, we've decided to just end this job and find another closer to home. I plan on doing a bunch of home projects, playing with my son more, cooking more meals, and just being happier in general. I only have 2 years of experience in my field, so I held on for a long time at my old job just trying to get some experience under my belt. My boss was a “nObOdY wAnTs To WoRk AnYmOrE” types and the benefits were awful, but I had a great work bestie that I worked side by side with which made everything else tolerable. They hired a new guy to initiate a transition in the leadership and he started playing games a month ago, and that was my breaking point, I immediately started to look for a new job. I was shocked when before I knew it I had a handful of really quality job interviews, where I found out that I was earning about 10k less than people in my position at different companies. I ended up having my choice of three amazing jobs, and I quit immediately.…

You won't believe the number of stories I hear about workers over the years. From people lacking complete common sense on the job, to people showing up in interviews wearing inappropriate clothing, to even people coming to work high or drunk (some even passing out). It makes all workers look bad, like no one is competent. These stories often come from people at the top who blame their workers any chance they get. However, whenever digging deeper into all these stories, it is ALWAYS the same input that results for the same outcome, which is, a job that has extremely high expectations for extremely low pay. I felt like posting it here to defend other workers and give people in higher positions a better understanding of what the issue is. There are two groups of people who apply for high expectation jobs with low pay, that's people who are stupid…

But goddamn, I'm so tired. I don't know if I can handle the application and interview process again. After I burned out at my last job, which payed decently but was very demanding, I took a shitty part-time food service job out of desperation. I applied every day for three months, probably submitting 200-300 applications during that time. I revamped my resume five or six times; it is quite strong, and I have an excellent skillset, as well as good experience, plus two degrees. I reevaluated my references. This was a harrowing process for me, as I have autism, which frequently percolates into intense depression, anxiety, and self-doubt–applying for jobs is the perfect recipe for inducing suicidal dread. I wish more people would name the company they are having their poor experience with. Not only to shame the company, but also as a warning to others.

I've been with my company for alittle over 4 years now. Right before I started, the company had a big target of making $66 mil for the year (which they hit and then some). This last townhall we are projected to make $130 mil+. I make almost $33k/year. Granted it's not a job that requires a degree or any kind of certification but I don't get to see any of the growth. I would think with a union we'd get to reap some of the profits of our labor but nope. Union didn't fight at all during negotiations to get ANYTHING better for us and to top it off we voted as workers to sign or not sign the crap contract offered. Just told “this is the best offer we can get, they're even giving you a bonus for accepting”(which was a taxed bonus). I have pretty rapidly reduced how…

i can’t wait to quit my job. the boss recently laid off a couple of the workers in the office and now the workload has been distributed to one other worker and myself. boss then has the audacity to frequent my office telling me that deadlines are approaching and i need to pick up the pace. this comes after me taking on another position with way more responsibility, no training, and no pay increase (i took the position because i felt like my employment depended on it). again, i can’t wait to quit this job.

So I took a job and asked if everyone was safely vaccinated. I was told yes and took it as such. I find out how anti intellectual and bigoted the staff is and asked one of the other employees if they were vaccinated. I found out they weren’t. I complained to management and got made fun of including being told “MAGA”. I left early to figure things out without making rash decisions. What should I do? FYI it’s a restaurant so health and safety are pretty important.
