so i’ve talked to a couple older people (i’m 25 for context, they’re in their 40’s+, so i’m not sure what generation gap that is but anyways…) “people work minimum wage jobs because they don’t have skills and they only way to get a better job/higher pay is to get skills that’s useful enough to find a job that will give you better pay. that’s why you NEED education/learn a trade.” the other person i talked to told me that “people that are coming over to America illegally are bringing wages down” (i still don’t get that one. make that make sense? why is that their problem? why does that have to affect everyone else that has lived here/worked here?) ok. my thoughts on that: NOT EVERYBODY HAS THE MEANS OR SUPPORT TO EVEN GET AN EDUCATION! or learn a trade straight up. if people want to and are able…
Month: August 2023
AKA the “Uncle Tom.” Still a slave, forced to carry out the orders and do the dirty work the master says without questioning. The foot soldiers of the corporate ladder, one step above the rest of us without much power. Main job is to just keep the rest of us in line and under the foot, squash any attempt at organizing or pushing back. They were probably one of us not too long ago before they did what they had to for the promotion. They don't get paid anywhere near the top people, but just enough so that they don't think of themselves as one of us, and don't side with our interests. Doing whatever they are asked putting corporate interests above the labor to save their ass because they don't want to go back. Decided to play the game and “join them.” Anyway, the comparison has crossed my mind…
My boss now has an assistant who will soon be my new boss. I applied for two promotions in two months. One of them was to be my current boss's assistant. I am old but I ain't dead. I can retire. I haven't decided to do so yet. I have not met the new boss yet. I no longer give a rat's ass about the corporation. Corporations do not really “care.” The people at my worksite are not my family. Almost all bosses only “care” when it is convenient to. Human resource departments are there to protect the corporation. Working to rule feels good. I work for me. I cleaned out my desk last night in anticipation of my shitty workplace going in “a new direction.” Fuck these people. I am done. I am looking for better work. I may just retire and sell my extremely bad art at festivals…
chain restaurant manager is a dick
my manger is an absolute bitch trying to make her way to corporate. I had a family member pass yesterday and text her letting he know, and also called the store. after I got ahold of her she said she would text me later about it. her text then said don't text me over work stuff, I give everyone my number but don't text me about calling off. I responded with alright, well then next time please don't tell me you're going to text me over work stuff AFTER I called the store and spoke with you. she then proceeded to call me rude and said “if this is how it's gonna be, this isn't going to work out.” I asked if I was being terminated and she said no… how would you take that?
Work/Life Balance for a Month
I have a friend coming over from a different country. She is staying at my flat, and I want to show her around my state. Currently however, I can barely afford to live working two part time jobs (which takes up around 60-70 hrs a week, plus commute time) At the time I invited her, I had a steady job that payed good, was flexible, and had steady hours around 40 hrs a week. So what should I do? She is coming late October to mid November to celebrate both Halloween and thanksgiving with me. Any advice concerning my work situation would be great…because I have no idea how to pump the breaks on my hours without getting fired.
I know this sounds absolutely ridiculous and stupid of me, but I recently got a job at tractor supply co, and I absolutely hate it. I work around 8 hours a day, and they don’t allow me breaks, only giving me a 30 minute lunch. The work is also very physically demanding. How should I let him know?
It’s wild to me they can’t understand that wages are not what they used to be. Offering me 70K to be in the office (in Chicago out of all places) is an outright slap in the face. I come home each month with a take home pay of roughly 3500 each month, rent is nearly half of that, factor in car insurance + price of food, groceries and gas? Absolutely insulting
Rude people For them, every single deal is a big deal and every single task is “extremely” urgent. They promise universe to clients and chase other internal teams to get shits done. Some Sales rep left me a several comments being angry and saying what they should do. I already said that shit like several times. Some people are wild like crazy so I’m confused if they really have a temper issue. Useless Escalation Again, some peeps can’t even wait for only one day so escalate to everywhere copying leadership. Looking into it, it’s even not urgent at all and of course all the info is not yet prepared. Why overreact? Company keep asking for more. I recently realised all the good people who I used to know has left the company already. In a caplitalism, it maybe natural for a company to focus on their service and clients for…

What’s your PTO like?
I transitioned out of teaching and work at a big resort. I get 9 holidays and then 11 days of PTO, but I start with 0. I accrue the hours each pay period. So I get like 6.5 hrs a month, not even a full day off each month. It’s sucks. What’s your PTO like?
