Had a falling out with the company I worked for and I reported them to the union and then I gone to work for another company within the union and when they asked for my union paperwork and receipts that’s when I realized my last receipt was mailed to me from April but the company I worked for has been deducting union dues / check offs for those three whole months. I am aware I am partially at fault for not opening my union mail but the contractor at the time stopped asking to see my paperwork so I just brought the unopened mail and left it at my table and said I will get around to opening it and never did so this issue was never resolved and I thought the union was receiving my dues because in my paystub it’s shows the company has been deducting them from…

Health, Job and bad teammates
Hi everyone! Ik this is long but pls read and advice I'm a new grad working in this project since last 9 months, I've been having terrible intermittent headaches since past couple of months and have taken time off for doctor appointment and sick days. I was assigned some tasks which I am well aware of and ready to take up entirely once my teammate leaves for her maternity leave replacing her. I've been put into multiple tasks and applications since the time i joined this project and been reassigned to new tasks as and when they please. They make use of me however they wish without acknowledging that they can't expect me to take up whatever tasks without prior knowledge or experience or bare minimum any support from the team leads. I was planning to quit December this year but taking account that my teammate is leaving for maternity…
Cottage invitation
In my team, we have an accounting technician who doesn't perform very well. However, she's really friendly and has invited us all to spend a day at her cottage next weekend. The thing is, some members of the team are building up a case for her dismissal. My boss is not aware of it. I refused to participate a few weeks ago when I was asked to send a list of the mistakes she makes in the tasks I delegate to her. I feel very uneasy about this hypocrisy. What would you do in my place?
Finally got a chance to go #2. A minute in there's a knock on the bathroom door. Boss says “customer called back for you and is on hold waiting for you” I acknowledged this. Minutes later another knock on the door “customer has been on hold for 3 minutes, you gonna be done soon or should I tell them you'll call back?” “Tell them I'll call back in 5 minutes” I then came out and said “this is the second time you guys have put someone on hold while I'm not available because I'm in the bathroom and you keep bugging me. Next time tell them im not available and I'll call back” Response was “can't waste time and I didn't know how long you'd be” Well if you don't know how long it'll be, tell them I'll call back. Like Christ, if it's that important take the call or…
Freedom or so (vent)
I set some boundaries this year. I cut out a lot of people and a lot of things that crossed those boundaries. One of those things ended up being my job. I quit my job of six years with nothing else lined up but some part time classes in a stem field. Although, from what I'm hearing, I won't have much luck finding a job again any time soon… so I'm not sure how useful the classes will be. My workplace was toxic, people were dying by their own hand and no one cared. People were promoted if they were related to the right people. Tragic. It was starting to ruin me, and so I left. Shortly after this, my landlord announced he's selling up. I threw out a lot of my belongings with the news, it will make moving easier. To where? No idea. I have a small mountain…
Fired From At Will
I am just wanting to vent if that’s alright… first time posting here, long time lurker. I applied for a role that stated in job listing certain hours and flexible two day in office and three days remote. First day in office, I am informed those are NOT my working hours and it’s not negotiable. First day, it’s already toxic IMO. Next, they ask what days I want to be in office. I say the two, and they say no, these are your days. Does it make sense to anyone if it’s flexible that you aren’t allowed to select what days you want to be in office or remote? I changed one of my days with an hour notice and they said I can’t do that, well too late. Maybe I should’ve lied and said I was sick huh? I make up 1/2 days, and the 2/2 day I worked…
Coworker Making More Money
I recently found out that my coworker is making $3 more an hour than me. We have the same duties, they manage one branch and I manage two larger branches. I have been working 8 months longer and I trained this coworker.
Long story short, I dropped out of uni last November but last April I managed to get a decent job at a phone store. The only concern was that it was a 6 month fixed term contract, but my manager assured me that something else would open up by October. Fast forward to July, my manager informed me that the store would be closing in October. It's a small store in a relatively affluent area, but apparently the rent is skyrocketing so they're closing it. I wouldn't have a problem with this but I haven't even been told when in October we're closing or if there's even a possibility of keeping my job. I've been assured there's “nothing to worry about” but even my co-workers on normal contracts are concerned about their jobs, some of whom have been there for 10 years. Despite everything I do actually like my job,…
Hey everyone, I’m 21M, I work as a cleaner and I work for 4 hours straight, my job consists of the following: • Cleaning 3 bathrooms, with one disabled toilet, 5 stalls in the women’s and 3 in the men’s, that includes the glass in there and the toilet roll refill as well as toilet cleaner with a toilet brush • There are 3 floors and each floor must take 45 minutes which includes vacuuming and mopping • I also have to wipe over 100+ desks at the end of my shift My question is, I feel like this is too much work for me, am I lazy? I believe I’m a hard worker, my back is sore at the end of every shift and I work 5 shifts a week, and they’re giving us even more work to do, am I being too unreasonable? How do I bring this…
For example, perhaps my company hires someone to work in one store, but during the interview it’s explained that although store A will be their main place of employment, occasionally they may be asked to work at store B or C. However, for the first year of the period of employment the employee only ever works in store A. Out of the blue the manager says “you gotta work in store B for a couple of days” but of course by this point the employee has built their routine and perhaps even their life around working at store A because the request to work at varying stores didn’t come for so long. It’s something like “reasonable expectations” but I think there must be a more technical term. Trying to stop my team having to work in a store none of us want to work in…
