According to The Massachusetts Institute of technology, the minimum income required to exist without struggle or Govt subsidies is now $25/hr in my area. This is the same calculator used for the “fight for $15” which began in 2012. adjusting for inflation $15 is now $19.40.
As you can see, the living wage varies from state and cities but for most people it’s about $20/hr. This is well above what people make / are offered. I encourage people to think more about the true cost of living. I don’t have family and am self reliant so this is a big concern of mine.
What baffles me is that most people can’t seem to exist below a certain income threshold without sacrificing standard of living, live off govt subsidies such as food stamps and public housing, or both!
