6 day notice?

Hey all, I need your honest opinion. I work retail and I have worked this specific job in retail for the past two years under the same employer. Recently, management has gone to shit and I absolutely dread being here. I tried to book this upcoming Sunday off due to stuff going on in my personal life that DEFINITELY takes priority over a minimum wage retail job. This is my first job, if I can’t use the owner as a reference due to pissing her off can I use an old coworker?

Edit: I understand that it makes me look like a horrible person. I’m still young (17+, under 20) and as much as I hate to have this attitude, I don’t believe that it’s my problem to work a shift i have booked off for important personal matters.
